What are your favorite stream-of-consciousness novels? (Mulling over a new course idea)
Relatedly: curious whether anyone out there has read Édouard Dujardin& #39;s "Les lauriers sont coupés," supposedly the first SOC novel (and an influence on "Ulysses")? Translated as "We& #39;ll to the Woods No More" by Stuart Gilbert: https://www.ndbooks.com/book/well-to-the-woods-no-more/">https://www.ndbooks.com/book/well...
Also would love it if people could recommend stream-of-consciousness novels by writers of color. Obviously Morrison uses it in "Beloved" and elsewhere…
Interesting how overrepresented Irish and Scottish writers are in the suggestions here (Eimar McBride, Edna O& #39;Brien, Mike McCormack, Lucy Ellmann, James Kelman). Is that just the lingering influence of Joyce and Beckett, or are there other factors?
