why steve is a victim of a bad and out of character ending, a thread:
1- Inconsistenty
In the winter soldier, Peggy flat out told him "Move on". Meaning she moved on with her life and did not want to be with him anymore
2- In age of ultron, Steve tells Tony "family? stability? the guy who wanted all that went in the ice 70 years go"
2-Agent Carter
In the show, there are several scenes that depict Peggy letting go and moving on. One of the most imp scenes is a scene where she's given the only thing Steve left, his blood. She decided to spill the blood in the ocean as a sign of officially letting him go. (1/2)
She's also shown to have fallen in love with someone else and started a family with him. We know Peggy isn't the kind of woman to just marry out of duty like they usually did in the 50s, that means she actually loved the man she married and wanted to have a family with him.
3- "But they were meant to be"

They knew each other for 4 months and shared one kiss. That's it. And frankly speaking, the obsession the writers made him have with her is borderline creepy. Like what the hell was that scene in endgame where he looks at her through the blinds??
4- Peggy possessed a weird ownership of Steve

Before they shared their kiss and a crush, Steve was kissed by a girl and Peggy got so mad over that she literally shot at him without making sure the shield was even working. She barely knew him at that point. She had no right.
5- Bucky.

Steve spent 3 movies just saving Bucky. From Zola, Hydra, the government, Tony. Why would he put so much effort into saving someone just for him to leave them?
Steve was supposed to be his best friend, his anchor, and yet when bucky needed him the most, he left
And to put it blatantly, it was just plain cruel. Bucky is still healing and adjusting to this strange and unfamiliar world and Steve left him anyway. Bucky needs someone, something familiar. Steve could've helped but decided to leave instead.
Steve understands Bucky to some extent, he too was once thrown into a new alien world. He knew how Bucky felt and literally refused to help. I'm just supposed to believe that Steve would do that to his best friend? Especially after going through so much effort to save him?
So in conclusion, everyone deserves a better ending. Steve deserves better. Peggy deserves better. And Bucky deserves better. It's very apparent that the writers did not watch a single marvel movie and do not know any of the characters. How fucking unfortunate. Thank fuck for Ao3
