Akon and his huge land acquisition moves when the natives have no land! Once again Black capitalism takes you to the same hell!!

Akon and his dreams of cities named after him on lands of people whose ancestors are buried on that land but have no land is violence!
Akon's huge land acquisitions in a country plagued by combined imperialist, capitalist, patriarchal and dictatorial plunder of communal lands leaving millions landless and in poverty is violence!
Akon cosying up with a regime that has forced millions off their lands in the name of development is violence!

From Amuru to Kalangala to Bwindi to Karamoja, there's no free land in Uganda!
Akon and the rich like him to acquire big lands rely on the violent state structure!
There's no free land in Africa for the rich to exploit! The people who will never see a cent from this city will be the ones whose lands will be captured! Capitalist expansion like Akon is pitching is inherently violent!
Akon's ventures do not have a place in the "moral economy" - an economy that is based on goodness, fairness, and justice.
Prof. Sylvia Tamale: "The term “moral economy” links specific relationships and patterns of reciprocity of material subsistence with shared non-monetary values, and is usually contrasted with market- or self-serving materialism."
Akon's ventures are self-serving, full-on with his name on stamped on cities built on lands that don't belong to him!

Class/capitalist oppression is not inevitable in Africa! We must find more ways to develop our lands that have community at heart not regurgitate oppression. As a Black person your dream can't be 'I want to be like the bazungu that own hills and hill of ranches'.
No one gets to own such huge lands without violence, often aided by class, gender, race, ethnicity, histories of oppression on that land.

'No one ever makes a billion dollars. You take a billion dollars'- Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez

There's long history of Afro-ecofeminism that has resisted the plunder of our lands! Mugende musomeko - if you are confused about us resisting a rick Black man from 'developing us'!
Prof. Tamale in Decolonization and Afro-feminism says "The new scramble for Africa, manifested in a repeat of land grabbing largely through “private investor acquisitions” for profit, is a strategy to absorb this surplus capital."
"Huge chunks of land in Madagascar, Uganda, Sudan, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Congo, etc., have been sold off or leased to countries such as China, South Korea, Japan, Qatar, United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia." - Decolonization and Afro-Feminism
"Maina-Okori et al. remind us “From a colonial perspective, land and the colonized (mostly Indigenous peoples) are considered part of nature and consequently objects and commodities of capitalism.”
Black capitalism is an extension of imperialism/capitalist expansion! #Decolonize!
From Mwikali in Kenya to Fadila in Morocco, being a land rights activist is dangerous "The full afront of capitalism has further complicated women's struggle for land rights. Women land activists now not only face a customary exclusionary tenure but also "commodification of land"
'Land rights activists are working against the global rush for land and extracted resources by large scale, multinational corporations aided by local ruling political elite against communities that are marginalized by these very 'investments'.
In Uganda so many cases of evictions that a special land commission of inquiry was set up - giving us a glimpse of the daily realities of land conflicts in this country. Few cases consistently covered by our media tell how the rich generally acquire land is acquired in Uganda
More than 9,000 families in Kabo village, in Mubende district have protested a decision by the army to relocate them from their land. https://ugandaradionetwork.com/story/kasambya-residents-protest-re-location
There's no free land on this continent! Development that is just about dumping extra wealth of the rich without people's rights and interests is not what Africa needs. Goddess knows this has been the story of our lands since colonialism!
#BlackCapitalismIsViolence and always has thrived in tandem with other oppressions. Women on this continent have barely secured their land rights even with all progress in laws. Capitalist expansion hurts these efforts to alleviate us from this imperialism induced poverty!
