the plastic coalition that has a movement of "plastic free" says that there are a lot of plastic in the ocean, which is true. but what they are not including in the info is that the majority/50% of waste that is inside the ocean are actually fishing nets and fishing gears
in taiji, fishermen kills and slaughters over 20,000 whales over a year because they see them as pests/competition that eats too much fish that they're fishing
the plastic pollution coalition and other organizations promotes "save the oceans" but won't encourage you to not eat fish but instead will say that you should be eating "sustainable fish" because they are a part of the seafood market industry, they don't admit but it's a fact
the fishing industry makes a lot of bycatch because of their fishing nets, they put back whales, sharks, turtles into the ocean that are barely breathing/alive. for the fishing industry "bycatch" is only "accidental catch" but there is no "accidental catch" in fishing itself
