how you can start learning astrology on your own [a thread] 🪐🌒
before anything, this outlines the basics! https://twitter.com/mercurialaries/status/1370178144905302018
i know it can get overwhelming to see a wheel chart at first, so if you want you can look at a table chart before anything else, and after you have familiarized yourself with your placements, then comes the wheel chart [this is from cafeastrology]
the site i most personally recommend is astro . com and i have a thread on the steps on how you can calculate your chart on that website! https://twitter.com/mercurialaries/status/1352674520268587010
next, learning how to read a chart, i have this graphic to help you out with that! identifying the houses and what planets are in each chart, etc. https://twitter.com/mercurialaries/status/1347661992983580672
now, the planets in the signs + the angles. start looking up your placements online and seeing what they mean! i recommend looking up your sun sign, moon, mercury, venus, mars, saturn, jupiter, then your rising sign, midheaven, etc.
looking it up is pretty simple, you can look up “scorpio moon meaning” and multiple explanations will come up!
i also recommend having a basic understanding about the modalities & elements beforehand
after you have learned the meaning of these placements, then the houses.

check where your planets fall in each of the houses, as you can see here, they have their mars in their 3rd house, so you would look up “3rd house mars” just like you did with the with planets
then the aspects, here are some sheets i have made on them! if you’re just starting, astro-charts can make it simple for you to see your aspects because it has them written out for you!

if you have sun conjunct mercury, you would look up “sun conjunct mercury natal” https://twitter.com/mercurialaries/status/1371983816139575296
astro . com also has a table below, if you know the symbols already then i recommend looking at this table and seeing the orbs [the aspect sheets i made talk about orbs]
after you have an idea of your chart, here are some things i recommend looking up to learn more about: midheaven, descendant, ic, chart ruler, polarities, decans, moon cycles, essential dignities, planets/signs and the body parts they rule, degree theory, critical degrees, etc.
i also recommend looking into placidus vs. whole sign houses and seeing which house system you want to use, or if you want to use a different one than those!
& here’s a thread of astrology books! https://twitter.com/mercurialaries/status/1375573619246465024
