wanted to talk a little about my experience with the covid vaccine and how (I think) it impacted my menstrual cycle just in case other ppl may experience the same thing. basically, I had my period for 19 days after my second dose (thread)

I got my first dose on 1/14 and the second on 2/11. my period has always been a little weird and irregular. I get stressed and won’t have a period for 2-3 months lol, so when I didn’t have a period in jan or feb, I didn’t think any thing of it

(I also didn’t have a period in dec. I was able to rule out pregnancy, but again, my period is weird so sometimes I just miss them)

anyways, didn’t have a period in jan or feb. my period started around 3/18. I was relieved . it was a pretty chill period. usually I have cramps/lower back pain and it lasts 4-6 day. but this time I had no pain and I bled for 19 days lol

again, I had no cramps and I’ve been using menstrual cups, so with how busy I am with work and school, it was easy for me not notice how much time was passing since my period started

then I saw this tiktok

started googling and I haven’t seen anything reputable written about this yet, but searching “covid vaccine period” on twitter, I saw lots of ppl talking about changes in their period after the vaccine

I went to the doctor on Friday just to get examined and make sure the extra bleeding wasn’t due to anything else. from the preliminary exam, my dr didn’t see anything of concern but they drew blood and I guess they’re running some tests

anyway, just wanted to talk about this bc just in case other ppl noticed disruptions in their period. yesterday my period finally started to lighten, so I think it’s ending

again, I’m just assuming that the vaccine had something to do it, but idk anything for sure. but the vaccines are so new that there’s a lot we don’t know about them, and there def is at least some anecdotal evidence that there might be some link

other than the whole 19 day period thing, I had the reg flu-like symptoms with my second dose like everyone else. I still would get the vaccine again, just wish I would have known that it might disrupt my period!!
