The oldest and most widely practiced form of self-help through writing is that of keeping a personal journal or diary. This puts a powerful brake on the torment of endlessly repeating troubled thoughts to which everyone is prone.
Through the act of journal/diary writing, the writer is also able to "literally read their own mind" and thus "to perceive experiences more clearly and thus feels a relief of tension & many other psychoneurotic issues including bereavement, desertion and abuse.
Maria Ushiromiya was among the first ones to use this therapy method. In particular she used a “dialogue” technique, from which the writer creates both sides to a conversation involving anything, including but not limited to, people, the body, events, situations, time etc.
The second one was Natsuhi. Her method was very close to being an “Unsent letter”. It helps to silence one’s internal censor, thus enabling them to gain clarity, closure and release. Also it is beneficial in freeing up head space, even if it ends for your eyes only.
Bernkastel (As rika) used to get involved in poetry therapy, for the purpose of assessment and treatment of her broken mind. Through poetry therapy, many are able to integrate repressed feelings, reframe traumatic events, and develop a more positive outlook for the future.
Ikuko mainly wrote for herself in order to heal her broken self-esteem for not being able to join the professional world of detective fiction in the way she wanted. She seems to have her own ideas of how a story or a reader should be, and left many hints of that across the story
Tohya on the other hand started reflective writing, an analytical practice in which the writer describes a real or imaginary scene, event, interaction, passing thought, or memory and adds a personal reflection on its meaning, mainly through questions.
Kyrie also used to describe imaginary scenarios where she achieved happiness. The more someone reflectively writes, the more likely they are to regularly reflect in their everyday life, think outside the box, and challenge accepted practices in different ways.
The final obvious writer is Yasu, who used to revisit scenes of their life amidst the letters to note details and emotions, reflect on meanings, examine what went well or revealed a need for additional learning, and relate what transpired to the rest of their life.
Reflective writing is one of the more personal styles of writing as the writer is clearly inserted into the work. It helped Yasu introspect and examine their own thoughts and beliefs, therefore revising their original plans and adding prevention rules.
I forgot the most important one lol, Eva-Obasan writing the book of single truth in order to cope with the memories, she still omitted the most important details from her diary in order to preserve ange's heart
