DMX sharing his story of being introduced to drugs is so heart breaking. He unknowingly tried a laced blunt which would open him up to a life of addiction and I just wonder how many other black people have a similar story of becoming addicted without their consent.

There are addicts we write off so quickly, without realizing some literally had no choice in the matter. They didn’t know they were choosing addiction. And there’s no space for a moment like that where you had no say in how the rest of your life would be.

He also speaks about being a child and trying the drugs from someone he admired. And again there’s just no protection for drug addiction, especially non consensual drug use. It’s all extremely sad. Praying for his health.
