My DMX story, a thread:

2003, I visit my college roommates in Los Angeles. We go to a bar, and have a great time.

There were 2 pool tables, so I put my quarters on the table for next game. They open up the dance floor and close up the pool tables. Sad, I didn’t get to play. (1)
Cut to some time later, the DJ turns on “X Gonna Give It To Ya,” and the crowd blows up. DMX and his crew enter, and they go right to the pool tables.

In my inebriated state, I walk right up to him. “I had next game!” DMX responds - “fifty bucks? I’ll let you play.” (2)
He beats me on the last ball. “Double or nothing?” He beats me on the last ball again. Three games - $300 bucks. That was a paycheck for me, making $12 an hour at ESPN as a production assistant. I was hustled by fucking DMX. Lol (3)
I don’t notice, but the bar is closed. Just his crew and my friends. We closed down the bar with DMX! 😱 (4)
X then proclaims “breakfast is on Pat!” and we all hop in his crew’s 3 Escalades - my friends following in their cars. X in the passenger seat, me sitting in the middle between his two massive body guards. We are all passing around a two foot bottle of Remy Martin. (5)
The parade stops, but not at a diner. We are at a parking garage in who knows where. Everybody gets out, and his crew pulls out three RC cars. These guys are just randomly driving around RC cars in a parking garage. Cops stop by, and tell us to disperse. (6)
We all hop back in the Escalades, and eventually get to some diner, again I have no clue where. We eat breakfast, then I go home with my friends.

That was the night I got hustled by DMX out of $300, and it was totally worth it. (7)
Here’s hoping he pulls through.

DMX has had problems in the past, but I can tell you from personal experience - he was good to me. (8)
