Killing time by looking at condo/ house listings. Basically impossible to afford with an average job.

Condo w/ parking enough for a starter family starts at 40k rent per month costing upwards of 5M.

Throw in child care, savings, household costs. The math just doesn't add up.đŸ€·â€â™€ïž
Having a passive / investment income more than the overhead expenses of my starter household has always been my goal.

100k monthly needs 12% return on 10M capital, 20M if assuming only 6% on purely passive investment.

Adulting is hard 😂
(Ortigas/San Juan context)
2BR DMCI unit is 5M+
2BR Alveo/Rockwell condo is 15M+
Townhouse is 20M+
Village house and lot is 50M+

Not sure if accurate now, but median salary is around 50k. Top percentile at 200k.

200k monthly net of tax+ is 145k.
1.74M / year.
Even at top percentile, you need almost 3 years worth of salary for the DMCI starter condo, and 29 years for house and lot.

It can get confusing how real estate in NCR is more expensive than some US / Australian counterparts despite the wage gap.
On average, people get married at 25-30 years old. That gives you around 3-7 working years to financially prepare you for a family.

Even with top tier skills, this can be hard without being an entrepreneur or coming from old wealth.
The very best ones start off at 6 digits right off college. Still puts you off at less than a million annually after taxes.

Besides, high paying jobs usually require a more expensive lifestyle (car, parking, dining, gadgets) for further network or work environment.
Even by saving half of that, it's still hard for the Math to make sense.

It's almost impossible to prepare for a "decent" starter family in 3 years with a day job alone.

And our parents ask us why our generation marries so late 😂
This is from a 2018 infographic, so it needs to be adjusted for crazy inflation.

According to that survey, parental costs for a child surpasses a million for the first two years.

Hahaha this infographic is scary enough to be a form of birth control 😂😂
