Here’s some info for all those family chats this weekend: the risk of a rare blood clot syndrome from AZ vaccine (which we can diagnose and treat) is estimated to be between: 1 in 250,000 to 1 in 500,000
Risk of average Ontarian getting COVID19 currently is:
1 in 1000 PER WEEK. (2000 cases per day in Ontario = 14000 cases per week in 14M people).
So, every week, week after week, a non vaccinated Ontarian runs a 1 in 1000 risk of getting COVID19 (which by the way frequently causes blood clots). An Ontarian who gets the AZ vaccine has a one-time risk of 1 in 250,000 of getting a blood clot from the vaccine.
Please get whichever approved vaccine is available to you as soon as you are eligible. And help eligible family and friends get registered and vaccinated. Remember hesitancy is common, credible information helps, & you can be a trusted opinion leader in your family/community/hood
