"Novusism"

(N.) The idea, notion or presupposition that what is new, current or up to date, in terms of being recent, is automatically more valuable and expedient than it's predecessor (s)

This is what the modern mind is currently captive to. A vain false notion this is indeed.
It must be know that we do not read those of the past just to show some obeisance or arbitrarily submit to some ancient authority; on the contrary, we read and look to those of the past because they were among the first ones to get it ( whatever "it" may be) right.
Now, nuisance of the mind is needed to understand what it is I am saying, for the normal human dialectical cogitating disposition is to believe that one is suggesting to abide to some phantasmic extreme, of which was not at all insinuated in the words of one.
We look to the past to focus the present on the future. And so a way an ancient may have done a thing will, for the most part, not be how we, who may have more information then they, do a thing. But for most things, save for others, the ways of the ancients should be emulated.
In terms of keep moral, communal living, social norms, sustaining society's, heritage, familial life, the attain of virtue, the value in religion and the like; the ancients shall be a light to us in these dark times.
