Reuters is partners with TASS, a Russian Federation entity that promotes Putin’s propaganda. Reuters President Michael Friedenberg, said in 2020: “I’m delighted TASS and Reuters are building upon our valued partnership by having TASS join Reuters Connect.” https://twitter.com/mhmck/status/1377683222532870150
6 months before the deal with TASS went public, Reuters President Michael Friedenberg highlighted Putin in his “Pic of the Week,” reflecting on Putin’s two decades of power and downplaying his scheme to grab more power.
In Oct. 2018, less than 2 months before Michael Friedenberg started as president of Reuters, the newswire sold a 55% stake in its Financial & Risk unit (now named Refinitiv) to Blackstone Group run by CEO Stephen A. Schwarzman, a close friend of Trump’s who’s connected to Putin.
Trump’s friend Stephen Schwarzman, who served as his Chair of Strategic Policy Forum, was a founding board member of Putin’s Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) run by Kirill Dmitriev whose wife is friends with and works for Putin’s daughter. He was in Mueller’s report.
Most of Reuters’ readers are unaware that the newswire is doing business with the Russian Federation to promote Putin’s propaganda and that a CEO with close ties to Trump and Putin has a majority stake in a major Reuters entity.
