Misogyny is a supremacist ideology.

As with all supremacist ideologies, its foundation is strict division: There are some to whom power inheres, & some who are by nature lesser-than & must be dominated. Rejection of the premise threatens the whole & requires strict policing.

This is what stood/stands behind moral panics re women gaining financial independence, voting, serving in office, playing sports, flying planes, controlling our sexual expression or reproduction. Patriarchy requires strict male-supremacist division & is threatened by all that.
2/
Gay men, lesbians, bi, queer, & otherwise-not-strictly-hetero sexualities threaten the whole edifice, but if they stay hidden, can be winked & nodded about, not least bc winking & nodding is also a form of domination.

The visible existence of trans people brings it all down.
3/
If gender is a social construct & not a biologically-determined binary, if I can't know at a glance if you're dominant or dominated, if you reject & pull apart your "natural" place in the system - the supremacist ideology & power structure undergirding all of society crumbles.
4/
Systems built to erase or punish trans folks - esp before they become adults - aren't rooted in "protecting" anyone, but in the imperative to maintain male supremacism. For men to be dominant it must be clear who & what a man is. Like all supremacist ideologies, it's evil.

Adding in light of the Gaetz news:

Heterosexual predation falls neatly within (& reinforces) the boundaries of misogyny/male supremacism. We've only recently begun to recognize sexual assault as a crime against the girl/woman & not agst the man/community to whom she belongs.
6/
It's why a legislator is in trouble if he's found in bed with live boy or a dead girl. The boy threatens the system; the girl, if not dead, reflects & reinforces the system. It's why Trump could be elected & why Weinstein & R Kelly didn't get in trouble for a long, long time.

It's also worth noting in this context that in the United States "martial rape" - that is: the rape of a woman by the man to whom she's married - has only been illegal in all 50 states for 28 years. Twenty-eight.

Women of any color have value only insofar as they serve and uphold white supremacy.
