Quick start guide for creating your own zettelkasten in @RoamResearch

1. Read a book and highlight anything that catches your attention.

2. Copy your highlights to one page in Roam. Each quote will get its own block.

3. Choose 10 of the best quotes or ideas
4. Indent blocks under each of those quotes and paraphrase them in your own words.

5. Summarize the big idea in one succinct, memorable statement

6. Create permanent notes for each quote. Use the summary statement as the title and block ref the original quote
7. Copy your paraphrase to the permanent note and spend some time elaborating on the big idea. Try to think of metaphors and stories that relate to it.

8. At the end of the note, list open questions related to that idea so that you have a place to start when you return later
9. Let Roam handle all the keyword indexing with unlinked references. Just add a section for links to related notes.

10. Repeat the steps for the next book you read. Or choose 10 more quotes from the same book.
