Apparently there is some hot debate going on and some people disliking gojohime. That’s all fair, but let me give you my take on the whole Gojo calling Utahime weak thing. Beware, manga spoilers are ahead. A thread.
Okay so we start with the obvious, Gojo loves calling people weak. He calls Utahime weak, he call Jogo weak. However, I personally don’t think he means them in the same way.
He probably calls both of them weak because they are physically weaker than him, but Gojo has a specific definition for “weak” when it comes to sorcerers. We see this in his flashback arc:
When Geto tells him that jujutsu is to protect non-jujutsu users, Gojo rolls his eyes at the thought
“Applying reasoning and responsibility to Jujutsu is what weak people do” This is what I think he is referring to when calling Utahime weak
Although the flashback arc is a turning point for Gojo, I think he still holds that opinion to a certain extent. Which is why his mindset is not that he should protect the weak, but that his students need to be the strongest
And so to Gojo, Utahime falls into the category of a “weak” jujutsu sorcerer because she is the epitome of applying reasoning and responsibility in all she does.
Utahime cares for her students to a point that confuses Gojo. She looks out for the weaker students and makes it her responsibility to take care of them
I do think that she is purposefully written as an opposite to Gojo. Someone that is weak the way Gojo is strong (she’s only a semi-1st grade and we still haven’t seen her CT), but also strong in the ways that Gojo is weak
Utahime is someone that believes in team work and helping others. Which is probably why her students work more like a team than gojo’s individual students
