so, brian sexton is this sports guy. he was the original play by play guy for the jacksonville jaguars local broadcasts, and later he was a sort of content host/“analyst”/hype man for the team.

on jan 7th his account got deleted. he hasn’t appeared in any jags content since.
there was no mention of him getting fired. as far as i know he didn’t get banned for tweeting any wild shit. somebody in jags twitter definitely would have screenshotted it.
so i’ve kinda gotten obsessed with what happened to him. the two (deleted account + no longer in official jags content) have to be linked. clearly he lost his job and immediately deleted twitter.
but the weird part is that the team didn’t say anything. he’s been “the voice of the jaguars” for over 25 years, and the jags under shad khan (current owner and father of AEW something or other tony khan) make overly emotional content about EVERYTHING
we’re talking about the team that did an announcement tweet for their new PR director here. when something happens like this the team usually says something. but nobody is talking about this dude. not even the people that he hosted shows with. it’s like he never existed.
so i have a few working theories. the most obvious one is that the new jaguars regime, including that new PR director, fired him. makes sense. he was a fossil, nothing he said or did was interesting. AND he’d been real cranky on one of the shows. maybe he knew already?
but that one doesn’t make sense to me. it seems like if they just parted ways on neutral terms they would have posted something like “after 27 years of blah blah were parting ways with brian”. they’d at least acknowledge it.

it seems like something bad happened.
if you’re not in the “oh yeah something bad happened” camp at this point then just bail on this thread.
so, i think one of two things happened:

1) women filed complaints against his workplace behavior.

2) he was at the insurrection.
2 doesn’t really have much evidence other than that he’s a trumper and he has been absent from jags content since the 6th and his account was deleted on the 7th. and honestly the trumper stuff is hearsay but it fits his character and those people are good sources.

but it’s funny
but 1 has a few things. first, a few years ago this man ted cruz’s himself in a big way. he was out of town for a game and accidentally liked tweets from an escort service specializing in cheating fantasies.
nothing wrong with being into stuff, and there’s no hate for sex workers allowed in this house, but when you combine it with the rest of his character i 100% believe he’s got a weird relationship with women AND race (the cheating fantasy stuff was heavily racialized).
second, as i mentioned before he’d been being cranky in his shows, and in the LAST thing he was in he jumped down one of his co-hosts throat for making a quick, innocent joke, essentially accusing her of speaking out of turn, in a very casual discussion format.
it should come as no real surprise that this is the first woman he’s EVER had to share significant spotlight with. on this show it is him, the chief editor of the team’s site, and this woman who does interviews and hosts content like this.
so it’s brian, john, and ashlynn, respectively. brian and john do most of the talking, while ashlynn facilitates. typically gendered. so my thought is that brian feels, consciously or otherwise, that ashlynn’s seat at the table is lower than his.
cis men rarely respect the work of facilitation when it’s not in service to their own egos.
so brian makes a serious point (pretentiously as usual), and ashlynn cracks a joke JUST as john is beginning to respond, and brian says some shit like “don’t talk over him”. something really snide and condescending.
and i think after the show the argued about it and he said some really inappropriate shit and it got him fired. the jaguars did him a solid by letting him go off quietly in the night as a final thank you for the long time service, and he crawled under a rock.
that’s what i think really happened.

but i HOPE he’s in jail for storming the capital cuz that would be funny.
oh the women complaining part. yeah, i think it was probably a pattern and after the thing with ashlynn it was like his third strike or whatever. or maybe that emboldened several women to come forward all at once.
