21. Jungkook probably should be nervous, but as he walks towards the baseball field that a nice girl pointed out to him, he doesn't find one ounce of nerves in him.

Instead, he finds excitement. And he finds lots of it.

22. He's excited that he's about to meet his teammates and hopefully, his new best friends, and officially start the beginning of his life.

He's excited that after all his hard work and patience, it's finally paying off and he's here.

23. He's at his dream college on a full-ride scholarship to play a sport that he's passionate about — baseball.

He used to watch baseball all the time when he was younger with his grandfather. He can remembers it like it was yesterday.

24. He remembers the smell of his grandparent's house, he remembers sitting on the floor in front of the TV while his grandfather sat behind him in the same chair he always sat in, his grandmother cooking his favorite meal in the kitchen.

25. He remembers how exciting the game was to watch and how much he wanted to be there, playing the game.

A few days later, he found himself asking his dad to sign him up to play the sport, and one practice was all it took for him to fall in love with baseball.

26. Baseball is such a simple game and yet it brings Jungkook so much joy. The type of joy that travels throughout his body and straight to his heart.

The sound of the ball hitting the bat, the sound of the cheers coming from the stands...

27. The way aredline fills him up as he runs to each base, it’s the best feeling in the world.

He knew baseball was it for him, but he also knew that he and his family couldn't always afford it.

28. So after graduating from high school, he took a gap year and worked the whole year to save up.

He didn’t care how long it took, he was willing to work for what he wanted...

29. But then a miracle came along and Jungkook didn't waste a second to sign up for the scholarships presented to him.

Jungkook had his doubts, despite the many times V hyped him up, not sure if he was as good as he thought he was.

But then he got the email.

30. So now he's here, and he couldn't be more grateful for it.

"Jungkook right?"

The newest student at Seoul University turns towards the voice to see an older man in a tracksuit, a kind smile on his face as he walks up to him. Jungkook smiles in return.

"Yes, hi!"

31. He reaches out his hand. "I'm Mr. Lee. I'm the coach for the baseball team. Welcome to Seoul University."

"Thank you so much Mr. Lee. It's a pleasure to be here."

"I'll show you to the guys."

32. Jungkook bows in thanks and follows the coach further to the field where he sees a bunch of guys practicing throws.

They're all laughing about something, only one not really joining the conversation, but as soon as Jungkook arrives the laughs die down.

33. Jungkook smiles at all of them, not really bothered by stares and some of the judgement in their eyes, knowing it was expected.

He knows he's the new guy just walking into their all already tight knit team, of course he's not going to be immediately accepted in...

34. But he's sure they'll warm up to him eventually.

"Boys, this is Jungkook. He's the new transfer student joining the team."

"Hello! It's nice to meet you all."

Jungkook bows and flashes them all a smile, only the one at the end with soft features smiles back.

35. "I need to grab something from my office, and then we’ll start practice. I'll be right back."

And with that the coach is gone, leaving Jungkook alone with eight other guys surrounding him.

"So, you're the guy replacing Kwan?"

36. "I guess so" Jungkook replies, not knowing what else to say since he has no idea who Kwan is. "Who is he?"

"He was on the team, but he got injured and now he can't play anymore. You’re his replacement. But that might be tough, he was one of the best runners we had."

37. "After me of course."

Everyone shifts their attention to the guy crossing his arms in the middle of the group, same height as him but different built.

He's looking at him with a blank stare, making it hard for the younger to get a good read on him.

38. He's handsome of course, /very/ handsome in fact, and honestly Jungkook is finding it hard to look away.

He's /exactly/ Jungkook type, from the tall built, to his defined jawline and thin but pink lips, to the fluffy hair that he wants to run his hands through.

39. But Jungkook stops himself from checking him out any longer. Someone else already has his heart, and he tends to keep it that way.

"Well, I'll make sure to try my best."

Silence starts to hover over the group soon, showing the conversation is over...

40. But Jungkook isn't ready for that yet.

He clears his throat.

"So what's everyone's name?"

"I'm Jackson." The guy with dark hair puts his hand up with a small smile before gesturing to the other guys. "And that's Minho, Yoongi, Seokjin, Hoseok, Felix, and Taehyung."

41. He ends with the "best runner on the team" apparently, leaving the last guy to have to introduce himself.

"I'm Jimin." He says, walking up to him to shake his hand. "It's really nice to have someone new one the team, I'm sure you'll love it here.”

42. "Kiss ass." One of the guys, Minho he believes, says under a fake cough, causing some of his new teammates to chuckle.

Jimin starts to sink into himself a little and Jungkook frowns at the sight.

43. He's seen this before.

He's seen this situation more than he'll like to admit since he’s experienced it himself first hand.

And he's not about to watch it happen to someone else right in front of him.

44. But before Jungkook could say anything, the coach returns and starts to gather them around.

"Let's get a feel of your skills Jungkook so we can see what position you'll be best at. Yoongi? Go get a bat for him.”

45. A few short moments later Jungkook finds himself standing at the home plate facing Taehyung, who's throwing the baseball in the air just to catch it and repeat, everyone else in different positions scattered around the field.

"Minho, why don't you be the catcher for now."

46. He nods to the coach's request and runs up behind Jungkook, and the younger just grins to himself as an idea pops into his head.

He swings the bat a little bit before raising it up to rest it on his shoulder, but in the process he hears a heavy groan from behind him.

47. He tries not to smile.

"Oh no! I'm so sorry Minho, are you okay?"

He doesn't answer, just groans again from the pain of the bat hitting him right in the balls, and Jungkook stands there as people tend to their teammate.

48. Jungkook looks up from Minho on the ground to Jimin, waiting for him to make eye contact with him, and sends him a wink.

Jimin smiles, even slips out a laugh that he tries to muffle with his hand, showing that his "accident" wasn't much of an accident at all.

49. "I'm fine, I'm fine." Minho chokes out as he stands up cautiously, trying to shoo everyone away.

"You sure?" Seokjin asks, concern in his eyes.

"Yeah, lets keep going."

"So sorry about that." Jungkook chimes in with an innocent smile...

50. Making sure no one could tell that he’s not sorry at all.

Everyone is so focused on Minho, no one noticed Taehyung and how his eyes are glued to their newest teammate.

51. No one noticed the way his heart fluttered in his chest the second their eyes met, or how much he wanted to wrap his arms around him and pull him close.

No one noticed that Taehyung is freaking the fuck out cause he didn’t expect Jungkook to be so beautiful in person.

52. "Okay!"

Jungkook smiles, raising the bat again, readying to show everyone why he got the scholarship.

"Let's play.”
