We were appalled today to see Sheridan Sinclair, a gay man, bullied off social media, and reported to the police.

His crime? He said that he is exclusively same sex attracted, and that the Mr Gay England competition is no place for anybody born female.

At Oscar Wilde's trial for gross indecency, his novel "The Picture of Dorian Grey" was used as a key piece of evidence against him. The book had come as close as any other to spelling out male, homoerotic desire. He was convicted, using his own words.

#DareNotSpeak
He called love between men "The Love that dare not speak its name."

In the 1890s, so as in the 2020s. So many of us dare not speak our name, in case, like Sheridan, we are bullied off social media, or like @teymidLGB, we are ousted from our social circles.

#DareNotSpeak
We dare not speak our name, in case like @BluskyeAllison, our job is threatened behind closed doors by sinister Stonewall, who attempt to have a black lesbian barrister fired, for the crime of... speaking the name of her love, and of ours.

#DareNotSpeak
It is 2021, and we dare not speak our name in case we draw down the mob of @PantiBliss who thinks that @LaurenGNC_Butch and @FemmeLoves are transphobes for neither wanting a penis, nor wanting to engage with one sexually.

#DareNotSpeak
And it is not just LGB people who dare not speak our name. Not any more. It is women, up and down the country who are being told by Amnesty International that being so hateful as to "defend biology" means that they should be "denied legitimate representation."

#DareNotSpeak
Women elsewhere, like Helen Staniland who lost her twitter account for the crime of asking whether women and girls should have to change in a room with an intact male.

Men like Graham Linehan, who lost his twitter account for stating basic facts about biology.

#DareNotSpeak
So many people, bullied, harassed and silenced, so many people who #DareNotSpeak.

We are here to thank every person who raises their voice for same sex attracted people, for LGB youth, for women and girls.

Whether anonymously, in your own name, or in your communities.
This debate has to be settled; the only way to do that is through open discussion and debate.

We cannot ALL be silenced.
