First of all, the term "Stan" has changed throughout the years. While the origins DO mean "Stalker Fan", no one in the community is actually a stalker. As Dream said, it just means that we're Super Fans. And there's nothing wrong with that.
Every single day, a new hashtag pops up literally mocking us for being who we are. First it's the #canceldreamstans, then the #averagemcytselfieday. I'll explain in further detail both of them.
The #canceldreamstans got trending, and as far as I know, it got over 31.6K tweets.

As we have already established being a stan isn't bad, let's talk about the demographic of the community.

We, the stans, have to suffer through so many people telling us that Dream isn't a good person, and that we're obsessed. Many of us have HyperFixations, and can't just stop stanning Dream.

Not only that, but as soon as the antis hear the word "stan", they instantly assume we're wrong. Actually, we have many voices, full of different backgrounds and races, please hear what we have to say, and educate yourself based on what we say.

As every single other community, this one has a "bad" part, however, when compared to the good, and normal part of the community, it's actually not even a crumb of it.
