So, after finishing the first season of #Vikings, as well as the first episode of the second season, I can say it has great set design and stunt work/performances, but the emotion is lackluster and all over the place. Hopefully they get it sorted out in season 2 and onward.
Just finished the second season. They definitely stabilize the characters and gave them room to grow. The battle sequences are fun, too. I think the cinematography on the second season stands out more than the first, especially this sequence (spoilers!): https://youtu.be/lwKKCW3LET0 ">https://youtu.be/lwKKCW3LE...
Also, this series has me researching just random questions that come to mind. They do an interesting thing where the characters speak English (for us viewers) until they come across a different culture, and then it goes to subtitles between both sides. (1/3)
I wasn& #39;t sure if the main language in the area of England used Latin as it& #39;s spoken language, since that& #39;s what all the monks study. It turns out, Latin wasn& #39;t a common spoken language then. They used old and middle English in that time period (give or take). (2/3)
So I went on YouTube and found an example of this guy speaking both. I was a little mind-blown, because that wasn& #39;t taught in high school english. Consider this the end of the mini-thread in the thread of #Vikings. (3/3)
Here& #39;s the video I& #39;m referring to: https://youtu.be/5NB2Z6pZBNA ">https://youtu.be/5NB2Z6pZB...
#VikingsSeason3 had more compelling drama than its predecessor and was darker thematically. I& #39;m sensing season 4 will be about redemption...if it follows its Christianity exploration as the Pagans vs Christians warfare has a whole other layer to it.
