I just learned today that my 92yo Grandfather passed away... May 2019.

My estranged family (mothers side) did not see fit to contact me when this happened because we differ politically. My grandfather was the exception. He kept his politics to himself.
He voted who he voted for and if you asked him he'd simply reply "Nunya." If you asked him for his opinion, you'd get it but it would never be forced on anyone, something he and I shared.
I'm not sad, I know it sounds cold but he lived a full life serving his country in the US Navy and later in the US Air Force. He had a quadruple bypass and a small stroke earlier, I was prepared for his passing. I will miss my Grandfather dearly but I am not sad, I'm angry.
I'm angry that the politics of hate for the last 4 years has divided not only my family but thousands of families all over this country. I'm gonna miss you Grandpa and the no-nonsense way you approached life.
