Director of Health, Dr Constance Chan:

We have stringent system for the use of medications in HKSAR. For BioNTech vaccine, we've been monitoring since it begin. Feb 23rd, 210102 arrived in HK. 585,000 doses.

758,000 doses of 210104 arrived in March.
150k doses of 210102 have been administered.

8 cases of cracks with vials. 25 cases of leakage due to loose caps. 14 cases of (?). We reported to Fosun, BioNTech informed in writing that they didn't see any issues, but need to carry out comprehensive investigation.
Fosun has promised to immediate investigate, they will approach BioNTech in Germany to investigate manufacturing process. Also will investigate transporting.

Those needing 2nd dose this Saturday will be immediately affected. Trying to get more doses.
Anyone requiring 2nd dose, can receive between days 19 to 42.

If can't use Batch #210104, will need new doses from BioNTech. Those that have had 1st dose DO NOT require to take 1st dose again.
Patrick Nip: No reason to think there are any risks.
PN: If you have made bookings, they are cancelled until further notice. Pls do not go to the CVCs.
PN: Even those that received a vaccination this morning before closures, they were batch 210102. 210104 has not been used at all in HK.
CC: Any of the vials mentioned with damage were disposed of before use. Anything unusual noticed, the vaccine was disposed of before use. This process is strictly adhered to.
CC: All records are kept. If BioNTech comes back with any information we need to follow up, we have the records for all vaccinations available.
Apologies, this is Sec Professor Chan in those last two tweets.
PN: The investigation by Fosun/BioNTech, we have no idea how long it will take.

The manufacturer of the vaccine (BioNTech) says there is nothing with this that affects the safety of the vaccine.
