Hachijo Tohya - Why Love is Truth

I was always enamored by the fact that Beatrice's letters were able to lead our two observers to go to great lengths just to honor her dead soul. The history and responsibility behind it makes sense, but I believe it was always something more.
They don’t respect Beatrice just because of her feelings and unrealized wishes, but you can also consider their feelings for a fellow author. She is a one of a kind author that had the ability to paint over reality with her own truth, and shake the world for many years to come.
Even after her death, you can’t help but feel mesmerized at the sheer amount of emotions and feelings contained in every single line. Surely you would want to try and reach their level as a fellow creator of stories, and maybe along the way you could understand her powerful will
As for Tohya it was a bit personal, as he regressed to the point where he is ignorant about the incident while feeling challenged by the memories of it, and at the same time wondering about his own identity in the process, striving hard to exist as his new self.
Ironically it was very similar to the state Beatrice was in in her last moments, wondering about her identity, sleepless nights about her past & future, and fighting her negatively born views of the world. Tohya would have met his end just the same if he stayed in the same state.
But he didn’t break down into pieces, because he had the confessions of beatrice, the one that contains all the memories of lost love, a point of view that no one else would ever think about, a goal and an identity that helped him (or both of his personalities) find the light.
That’s why Beatrice's love is capable, is absolute, and is the truth. Her love was able to transcend the barriers of time, heart and identity, and help everyone find their own way home when they were lost, even ikuko who once relinquished all connections to the outside world.
