according to my email notifications she has posted 20 new chapters totaling 120k words but the fic still isn’t accessible on ao3

based on the email the tag additions are only related to the new crossover fandoms, but ZERO additional tags is highly uncharacteristic so i was hoping to verify on ao3 and realized it’s still down or hidden or whatever

i’m super unclear on what’s happening here bc this is a tweet from this morning referencing stuff that was uploaded 24 hours ago and i’m unclear on what the reference to archive standards means/if that’s tied to the fic not being available/if she KNOWS the fic isn’t available

i would tweet at her to ask about the fic but i’m pretty sure she blocks everyone who tweets at her or follows her which is a legendary way of approaching this website

also if she DOESN’T know and she’s the only one who can see it, then watching that play out is going to be wild and i very much don’t want to disrupt the ecosystem

three days since the new chapters were added, still nothing showing on ao3, and no updates from the author i think at the very least she knows something is up bc otherwise i would have expected another update email by now

okay now she’s just tweeting about word of honor

day seven since the big batch of updates got posted. still not visible on ao3. still no indication that the author is aware of this, although the lack of subsequent updates suggests she’s not NOT aware.

11 new chapters posted this morning, a combined 63k words. still not visible on ao3.

as you may recall, the last time i got an ao3 email about new chapters, the email showed nothing new under “additional tags” and i couldn’t check ao3 to see if they were added after the updates.

i don’t see any official ao3 statements this could be quoting (i never pay attention to anything ao3 has to say so i guess it could be somewhere other than the five places i checked) so it may be something they sent her directly ahead of its formal announcement/implementation

on twitter the author has described the 75 tag limit as “a bombshell, but it’s not like I’m against that.” again v funny to call it a bombshell after pretending she was trying to force their hand to make them institute it. i remain FASCINATED by whatever happened post-suspension.

like, she talked a lot about updating her work to meet ao3’s standards, so it seems she was aware there was some kind of issue that was keeping the work hidden even after her suspension passed. but as we all know ao3 famously does not HAVE standards. it has to have been the tags.

based on the email she posted, it seems like once they were able to settle on a 75-tag limit, they conveyed that to her and let her know they would unhide the story as soon as she complied with the limit.

she calls that request a bombshell, which implies she wasn’t expecting them to come after the tags, which i believe bc she added 1981 tags during the post-suspension downtime and why do that if you know the REASON for the extra downtime is that they’re going to tag limit you?

she has made it sound like she worked with them a LOT to meet whatever standards they were imposing, so what did they have her doing, and why bother if the actual issue was the tags? did they have her edit out some of the more offensive content in the work itself?

i don’t think ao3 would open that door given...everything about them. but what did she think the holdup was if they didn’t say it was tags? what about the tag limit was so difficult that they couldn’t agree on a 75 tag limit during her month suspension & needed three more weeks?

i’m not saying this has replaced “what happened on the set of the steal my girl music video” as my choice if the afterlife has a “you can have ONE unsolved mystery explained to you” policy, but...it’s something i would have to really deliberate on

legit if for some cursed reason anyone has a pre-suspension pdf of the entire thing please let me know so i can do some completely unhinged review to see what was changed

in conclusion: she tweeted that she is updating the fic on dreamwidth on a daily basis but as far as i can tell she hasn’t added a chapter there since february.

losing my mind thinking of the poor person at ao3 who got assigned to her and had to become familiar enough with 1.3 million words of STWW to be able to challenge individual tags on it, only for the higher ups to turn around afterwards and be like “nvm 75 tag limit”
