cancers/lunar natives are not the little weaklings you perceive them to be and here’s why:
lunar natives are ruled by the moon/chandra. therefore, they are naturally inclined to be emotional, watery, intrinsic or motherly. however, cancer is the natural fourth house of the zodiac, which signifies how we define ourselves and rules the home and our places of relaxation.
when we are truly at home, we often feel free to express our deepest emotions and thoughts. however, when we leave our structure of protection, we put on a tough outer shell to protect ourselves.
this is why cancer is symbolized by the crab. the crab has a tough outer shell to protect their soft interior. it is interesting because this seemingly tough and aggressive creature was once theorized by scientists to be incapable of feeling emotions.
this theory was disproven as most crustaceans are said to experience stress and anxiety. when crabs feel these stressful feelings, they seek a safe space/crevice to ease their emotional discomfort.
in “the royal tenenbaums”, margot (played by hasta 🌞 and rohini 🌙 gwyneth paltrow), we see margot feel the need to hide her smoking habit and her past from her partner. this need to keep her secrets hidden under her figurative house of seclusion is common amongst lunar natives.
the mahavidya associated with the moon is bhuvaneshwari. she is the fourth tantric goddess and her name consists of two meanings: “bhuvana”, meaning this living world and “isvari”, which means the female ruler. she is the goddess of the world but bhuvana encapsulates more...
bhuvana is the entire cosmos, it is the heavens, the atmosphere, and the earth. she is also called mahamaya (meaning “she whose magical power is great”). maya is essentially the power to create a magical appearance for the delight of the spectator.
maya serves as the beautiful illusion magicians use to entrance their audience. this is why lunar women’s beauty is so captivating and abundant in the charts of prominent supermodels. lunar natives embody mahamaya to put on their outer shell of glamorousness.
think of lunar energy as the the nourishing moon tarot card. the moon is nature and expressive of the cool, moist earth in which we walk on. it is the divine moon that controls the tides and sexual reproduction of all living things.
the moon nourishes the earth with her cold waters and provides the animals and plants with reprieve from the constant sun. so what happens when the environment of lunar natives picks up on their naturally giving and emotionally-inclined nature?
there is a phenomena amongst many lunar natives where they are susceptible and receptive to an abundance of energy. the moon being the watery planet it is creates a heightened level of intuition and receptivity.
a problem many of these natives have is being too susceptible to the of emotions of others. while these natives generally have the ability to be quite psychic, there are cons to this. oftentimes it is difficult for them to understand how to handle and channel their intuition.
it is common for these natives physical and mental health to be influenced by their surroundings. they sometimes can physically feel the harmful energies of others to the point of near sickness or nausea.
let’s examine the significance of a few other animals in the lives of lunar natives. three nakshatras are closely linked to the snake: mrigashira and rohini (snake yoni consorts) and ashlesha.
while mrigashira does not lie in the cancer rashi or is ruled by the moon vimshottari-wise, it is ruled by the deity soma (aka chandra, the deity of the moon). rohini and mrigashira embody the slithering snake within, unknowingly enticing the energies of others.
whereas, ashleshas embody the ultimate slithering seductress within. they are correlated to the snake, due the nakshatra’s rulership of sarpa/naga (the divine snake). ashlesha clings and embraces the energies of others.
like the routine shedding of a snake, we see all lunar natives feeling the need to eventually shed themselves of their surroundings energies. this shedding of their exterior serves as a reprieve and removes the projections and energetic sensitives from others.
in “the secret life of the american teenager”, we see adrian (played by pushya 🌞 francia raisa) put on this outer shell of promiscuous illusion to seem more tough. she hides behind this identity, due to her insecurities of being emotional and fear of being unliked for this.
paris hilton (pushya 🌙) came forward about her faux ditzy identity being a hoax. she once said, “i built this kind of shield around me & kind of this persona, almost to hide behind, b/c I’ve been through so much where I just didn’t even want to think about it anymore.”
these natives learn to eventually find the balance between barriers (🩀) & emotional cleansing/shedding (🐍). this equilibrium is difficult, as many lunar natives are expected to be the mother who is willing to satiate the emotional needs of everyone without having needs herself.
when their walls come down, we see people in their lives either show support or distaste for their raw vulnerability. similar to francia and paris’ personas, these natives learn to no longer care for the expectations of others and learn to embody the true form of bhuvaneshwari.
they flourish and blossom into all-pervasiveness and identify with the entire universe, inspiring the collective to cultivate an attitude of universality. hence, why we see so many lunar women at the forefront of empowering and inspiring other women.
prominent leaders and activists like ida b. wells (punarvasu 🌞) gloria steinem (pushya 🌙), malala yousafzai (punarvasu 🌞 and hasta 🌙), and rupi kaur (hasta 🌞) all contributed to the fight for equality in an unique way.
do not mistake these natives maternal expression as a participation in the stale mother archetype, they are the bold, full moon rising up to nourish (and change) the collective with their watery, cooling nature...
they not only want to better themselves, they also want to change our perception of traditional femininity and what that entails. people write off lunar women as “soft” or “weak”,
but lunar women also have this innate ability to use their perceptions and faux personas to subconsciously manipulate others.
the cat yoni nakshatras are punarvasu & ashlesha. these nakshatras lie in the cancer rashi, thus correlating them with bhuvaneshwari. recall from earlier, the mahavidya bhuvaneshwari is said to be linked to maya. maya is correlated to rahu, as rahu is the planet of illusions.
rahu + maya are said to be representative of the feline cat. cats and serpents are closely related to each other. the serpopard is a mythical animal with the body of a leopard and the long neck and head of a serpent (similar to the serpent-like nature of rahu and ketu):
it is suggested that the serpopard was once a symbol of the chaos that reigned beyond egypt’s borders. this was an animal the egyptian king must tame.
we see lunar natives also have the potential to reign chaos and embody maya to their advantage. a prime example of this manifestation of serpopard is megan fox (ashlesha 🌙) in “jennifer’s body”. she uses her intoxicating and sensual illusion to feed on men.
she embodied the freed monstrous feminine to reign chaos. however, her insatiable hunger and inflated ego (rahu) was unfortunately her demise.
whether these lunar natives choose to enshroud themselves in their homely shells, shed their outer influences, embody illusion, or challenge or embrace the traditional notions of society is entirely up to them.
i say all this to say, stop perpetuating this stigma that all lunar women are unbearably emotional. we all need to express our emotions at some point and if we learn to channel this properly, who knows what wonderful things may blossom?
