mcu marathon thread

finished captain america the first avenger yesterday evening (since it’s 1:48 AM and technically tomorrow)

so anyway chris evans

finished captain marvel just now

since I’m doing this whole chronological order thing that end scene didn’t really make sense but it’s okay we’ll get back to that, there’s a more pressing matter:
how is samuel l jackson frozone, mace windu, and nick fury? he is one man.

finished iron man earlier, only thoughts are that I know there’s like a whole MCU and all this info about tony out there but like for that to be his first movie there was only a slightly MENTIONED backstory & I didn’t really like that, but anyway pepper potts-

just finished Thor (had to skip the Incredible Hulk, I was going to make myself watch it, but it’s not on Disney+ or Netflix so we happily passed) and could not get into it for like 1/3 of the movie but ended up liking it a lot, also Natalie Portman-

finished the avengers a couple hours ago, I really like the dynamic between Bruce and Natalie & the one between Tony and Steve, but only when Tony and Steve aren’t actually arguing. that’s really all I’ve got other than I wish there were more women heroes in this world

finished thor: the dark world, still don’t like that he’s just Thor. Thor as a hero. Thor as the man who loves Jane. Kinda messing w me. Expectations were low for this one, it was fine, Loki had me proud, but I’m back to disappointed mom feelings toward him

finished guardians of the galaxy this morning, ngl I didn’t realize they like were so new to being a team, that peter and gamora enemies to allies to friends to more than friends arc went real fast. wasn’t bad, but did feel a bit unrelated to everything else happening.

yes I know they connect later on blah blah blah I just mean to go from the avengers to thor the dark world where the avengers is all still referenced in an exterior to world to just guardians of the galaxy w no correlation really was odd

I’m kind of just pushing through now like I’m gonna get through volume 2 but I also know I’ve seen parts of it so it’s going to feel more boring getting through getting through

just wanna watch the Snyder cut but I feel obligated to finish this first so my mind isn’t mixed between MCU and DC lol

finished guardians of the galaxy vol 2 technically yesterday, but I was watching the end credits right at 12 so whatever, counts as today, since I’ve seen it before only like the last 1/3 of it felt new, I like the humor of it tho so it’s decent

just now finished iron man 3, still wish miss pepper had gotten her a suit or something, when she saved Tony with the suit at the beginning I was screaming inside for her, I appreciated the portrayal of anxiety and feeling overwhelmed in him tho, made him feel more human at last

finished captain america: the winter soldier, that felt like maybe the most boring one yet. you know filler episodes in a tv series? that’s what this seemed like. nothing new really happened because the Falcon had a minimal story and I already knew Bucky was coming back...

just finished avengers: age of ultron. hated the villain and general plot line of this one, but have seen the ending before, so that could be part. ultron was just annoying. however, the humor and camaraderie here is top tier.

also I did not know nat and bruce were a thing and now I’m happy it exists and mad it’s not still around

and also I almost cried when Tony told Fury about his vision from Wanda of being the end of the avengers. the foreshadowing in the MCU is just another top tier success.

also stan lee being in every single movie has been so funny but I’m just haunted by the “in loving memory” sequence in captain marvel now :(

just remembered what Steve does at the end of endgame and I’m Not Okay

I’m mad that I had to just have that memory rn when I could’ve had a good moment reliving it and now it’s all I’m going to think about also I’m in the middle of ant man rn

anyway finished ant-man, I appreciate Scott because while other avengers come from dark backgrounds and bad actions in the past he just literally is a criminal with a good heart like he said I’m a burglar not a robber I don’t do violence and that had me on one

just finished captain america: civil war and still very unsure why this is a captain america movie and not an avengers one... but okay. also did not realize black panther AND spiderman made appearances before their movies.

just finished black panther (I’ve had no motivation to watch these next few movies so it’s been a push) and must say I liked the ending, I feel content

when homecoming isn’t on Disney+ but you want to rewatch it so you have to rent it hate that

follow up: I own the movie but we don’t have a movie player hooked up at the new house so anyway why did I not remember any of this from the beginning of this movie

okay okay i rewatched homecoming, this one was good as one of the first marvel movies I really watched, but now in terms of the entire mcu I feel like it wasn’t too relevant, however I’m looking forward to rewatching far from home after endgame

‘ello I’m finally back like two weeks later, finally watched doctor strange, and pardon my French but I think it may now be my favorite marvel movie oops

finished ragnarok this morning and while I found the villains in this incredibly obnoxious I did appreciate the shift in humor & also the relationship between thor and loki, made me wanna live like this forever, very good

just finished ant man and the wasp, I appreciate the relationship between lang and hope, something about badass scientist lady with an agenda and funny ex criminal who is really just too smart for his own food, great dynamic, but this movie was so fill in the blanks

on that note, I have now watched all the MCU movies, however I will be finishing out the marathon with endgame and infinity war and far from home just because it is the correct thing to do (and also, I’ll be on the lookout for the Incredible Hulk)

I would like to clarify that tweet was out of order and I am aware I’m not about to shake it all up at the last minute. also 100% plan on crying at Tony’s d*ath

anyway just rewatched infinity war and two things: can’t believe I had the nerve to watch that without any context beforehand (really, why?) and can’t believe marvel had the nerve to leave the world with the MCU in this state for so long, like that’s depressing smh

like you know what I mean??? I like these movies bc I’m like what if something crazy does happen one day and we actually have superheroes show up to save us but no in this they literally had the worst thing happen and took away a good portion of the heroes

It’s like just actually unsettling lol anyway I wanna sleep but we all know I’m now going to at least start endgame bc I can’t handle the end of Infinity War

and I just finished rewatching endgame. Cried again with Tony, once for Peter and once for Pepper, and I cried again for Nat when Wanda said “she knows.” Feeling whole and yet empty all the same. Can’t believe I’ve now seen them all and I can’t believe it feels so blurry and fast

so I will continue feeling enthralled by marvel probably until I die now, but I’m going to move on to rewatching far from home and then ??? Wandavision??? Maybe??? Finally??? and then I guess it’s FATWS and I’m all caught up in this MCU of ours

really tho pls give me Pepper being involved in Peter’s life like another mother figure (maybe even being besties with May) and Peter being involved in Morgan’s life like a big brother figure pls pls pls @Marvel thanks

aaand there’s far from home. I can wipe off my board now, say I’m done with the marathon. Dr. Strange still takes the cake for me, but I honestly don’t think there was a single one of these movies I disliked (the winter soldier hangs on by a thread)

I literally feel like there’s so much information in my head now. One day I’m going to have to do this with Harry Potter, too, but eh for now I’m starting to get more vaccine symptoms so I will be instead watching wandavision

aka one day this thread may end but for now it’s alive and kicking too many movies and tv shows coming out the next few months to end it now
