I failed to build an audience 3x:

Instagram, TikTok and Twitter.

Then I tried Twitter again.

I grew from 0 → 3000 starting from ground zero.

Here's how I use Twitter and why

(Thread)
Note:

This thread is going to be especially useful for people who want to build their audience on Twitter.

• Minimize mistakes I made ✖️
• Learn from the things I did right ✔️
1/ Respect your audience

• Respect their time
• Respect their attention

Keep your tweets value-packed and as short as possible.
2/ Reply with value

Value can come in several different forms:

• Present a different perspective
• Enforce their point and backing with evidence
• Referring them to a link, book or external resource that could potentially add value to their life

Value → profile clicks
3/ DMs are gold

• Avoid templated messages
• Everyone actually checks their DMs
• Rule of thumb: provide value before you ever ask for something

Early on, I would DM new followers to connect with them on a personal level and learn more about them.

People appreciate this :)

4/ Build in public

• Share wins and losses
• Behind the scenes > result
• People like seeing the whole picture

I do this by sharing my analytics every week and updates on my life habits and work.
Ex 1.

5/ Ask meaningful questions

• Questions that make them think
• Questions that build a community
• Questions that provide info for you

Questions do well in terms of engagement but also should provide value for your audience or yourself.

Ex 1.

Asking for feedback

It helps me improve my style and content. https://twitter.com/aaditsh/status/1369342086600884233
