The livestream has now started of the AA dragster competition I mentioned last week. Unfortunately it's only on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/groups/fieldhousechallenges/permalink/1029511277571014/
First run by "Karen" by Cameron Mcbride: 10.3seconds!
Apparently I'm #40 in the running order, currently taking about ten minutes per entry, so it might be this evening before mine gets a run!

Second run by Tachyon by Artur Pekosz is a DNF: kept turning left and didn't make the finish.
Next run is Green Queen by Lee: 11.7seconds
1AA by Christian Price, 90grams, one of the heaviest entries apparently, but got 3.15seconds! Serious competitor there. It used one motor per wheel, four motors!
Next entry is by Clayton Blighe with 3d printed herringbone gears for the drivetrain
3.33seconds! Close competition!
3.33seconds! Close competition!
DoubleA Gonzalez by Robin Fieldhouse (part of the event organisor's family, controversial!) is next: 3.3seconds.
PLAtime is next, another from the event organisor's family! But it's crashed and burned! Collided with a column (outside bounds of course) and snapped it's axle.
Henry Sheppard's entry Kevin is next, all the way from Australia. Time: 3.68
Next is Lightening Machine, another three wheeled entry.4.4seconds
DSN Dragster is next, from Turkey. A very bright green machine. 14.08seconds
Next is Senior Rapido mkII, by Adam Fieldhouse (yet another from the organisor's family, a bit of entry stuffing going on here? Hmm).
Very aero looking. Four drone motors direct driving the wheels!?
2.27seconds!

2.27seconds!
Next entry came in its own custom 3d printed case! Three wheeled (single front wheel drive), four drone motors, with a flexure mechanism for adjusting the steering
Tezerak got 3.05seconds!

Next is Sloth von Slowington by Tuure Kaunisto: 6.1s
Ru-Dave by Joe Yule is next. A very sleek, red Bluebird esq machine. Turned aluminium wheels with o-ring tyres, 5V boost board
8.99 seconds.
Cold temps may be affecting boosted designs more than others

A lego base entry is next, fused with the back end of an RC car. It's called Speed Slide Speed Slide and got a fastest time of 7.98s
AArdly moving by Tom Croxford is next with 3.49s. Used two big motors and belt drive.
A Rather Pitiful Pile of Junk by Isaac Carr is next. Great name! Looks and goes better than its name suggests :-)
Four drone motors again, one per wheel but with gearing. Silicone sealer for tyres.
2.49 Seconds!

2.49 Seconds!
Stanage3000 by Mike Woo is next. 4.09s. Looks like a 500series motor with extended rear shaft direct driving both rear wheels
I've just heard the organisor's say that if a family entry gets the fastest time, they'll give the prize to second place. Looking good for the Pitiful Pile!
Red Robin by Ellis is next. Big wheels, looks a bit like Simons entries, but with a regular gear drivetrain.
3.7s
3.7s
Next entry is CL1. The builder has developed his own sensored brushless motor controller to work at the very low voltages! Rear axle is direct drive from the motor. The builder is the father of the entry currently in sixth!
3.79s, so the son's faster!
3.79s, so the son's faster!
Simon's entry Storm Cell has just run, 3.27seconds! Respectable time but outside the top three.
Next entry looks a bit like Neil's piwars entry Dangle, it only has two wheels on a common axle.
A sedate 23second run
A sedate 23second run
The only other CVT entry (aside from Simon's is next. It uses two opposing cones with strong wrapped between them for decreasing gearing as it progresses. Uses two N20 gearmotors. A build by Jacob Williams called Ice cream (probably named after the shape of the CVT cones). Got 7s
Better Late Than Never by Paul Lambert on is next. 6 big motors! Heaviest entry at nearly 500g. Looked slow, didn't hear the time.
Mines up next!
Mines up next!
Mine drifted left, crashed and slightly broke the front wheel! Uh oh. Hope they can fix it for me
They've fixed it! Elephant Eaters fastest (only) time was 3.54seconds, so Simon's got the fastest time between us two.
Simon's CVT Plan B is up next
Simon's CVT Plan B is up next
Simon's Plan B got three solid runs in. Fastest time was 2.92! I think that puts him in third place!
After a series of DNF entries, next is another fan powered design! This time with four propellors, called Insane Usain.
14.91seconds
Not many entries left now

Another fan powered design is next. Uses a geared drone motor/prop, so should have good thrust efficiency. Fully 3d printed space frame chassis in searing green.
Unfortunately another DNF, lost directional stability when at speed.

I think that's all entries run, but it sounds like some special awards are about to be given out for the best AA dragster designs
First award is for best shipping box which goes to Tachyon
Ice Cream with it's CVT got Most Intricate Design
Chariot AA (the two wheeler) got Most Novel design
All special prizes won £50
Top spot went to Pitiful Pile of Parts, Simon's Plan B got second competitor.
I was 10th

Full results have been released. I'm surprised how close the top ten was, and how heavy some of them were. I optimised in the wrong direction!
