I know some of my skincare girlies have recently been finding out what licensed natural/textured hairstylists have been advising so I’ll make a thread of all the findings and tips I’ve come across.

A THREAD.
Disclaimer: In all,you can do what you please with the hair on your head. I'm just helping my friends that have asked. If you have any specific questions in regards to what has been reiterated here, please book a consultation with a professional hairstylist.
Side note: pls don’t disrespect professionals (this relates to other fields) on their work or discredit them when they have receipts to show that they know what they’re talking about. They are just trying to help you use fewer products + steps so you can save money and time.
Let’s start off with the fact that a lot of the professional hairstylists don’t really focus on the curl typing system that we know e.g. 3C/4A/4C. https://twitter.com/JenniferRoseNYC/status/1355390346545524736?s=20
Porosity is always mentioned in natural hair care, here’s what a professional has to say: https://twitter.com/camillejanae/status/1297760277912416257?s=20

With that being said, all these tips are applicable to all hair types and textures. There can be slight differences in certain cases e.g. using a lighter styling product for fine hair etc.
Most professional hairstylists say that a lot of issues with your hair could be the result of not having a trim or a cut. So they advise getting a *professional* trim or haircut by a stylist who is licensed and specialises in your hair type/texture. (My UK folk, I got you 😉)
Right to start off, let’s think about skincare: we start with the basic routine of using a cleanser, moisturiser and SPF. Then we add other products/techniques/treatments to help treat any skin concerns we have. It’s literally the same case with haircare.
The common timeframe suggested is to wash your hair every 5-10 days, more often if you workout. The hairstylists recommend a simple wash routine:
-Shampoo
-Condition
-Styling Product (Gel/Wrap Foam/Heat Protectant/Leave In Spray)
Once that foundation is solid, you can change or add other things to cater to your own hair’s personal needs. Shampooing and conditioning your hair is basically how you moisturise your hair.
