in defence of Hindu Word
(A Longggg Thread)
Yea , now we need to defend hindu word from twitter pandits lol.
Anyways arguments against Hindu word :

1. It's a derogatory term given to us by muzzie invaders
2. It's not mentioned in our scriptures.
I will debunk all of this by giving :
1. Foreign Historical evidence
2. Indian Historical evidence
3. Scriptural evidence
Foreign Historical evidence :

in inscriptions of
Alchaemenid empire
word "Hidu" is used for India
here word "Hida" is used for Sind
At last word "hiduya" is used to a refer a person of Sind
I'm not a language expert but if we notice carefully
alphabet N is often skipped here.

So proper words would be :
Hindu for india
Hinda for Sind
Hinduya for person of Sind
in Zoroastrian scripture word hindu is used for Sindu
here's how words Sapta Sindu got corrupted into Hapta Hindu
My Above tweet supports the most famous etymology for Hindu word.

Sindu>Hindu.
However this etymology doesn't prove anything against hindu word at all!

it's just one of the interpretation that hindu word was used geographically as well.
Indian Historical evidence :
Vijaynagara empire inscription always call their kings as
"Hindu Raya Suratan"
Maharana Kumbha's inscriptions call him HinduKar .
Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj also used Hindu word proudly and founded Hindavi Swarajya
Chaitanya mahaprabhu ji used the word "hindu" as well.
Indian Historical evidence proves that Hindu word wasn't a derogatory term otherwise our kings wouldn't have used it .
Now Let's move to Scriptural evidence :
(Note most of the scriptural texts might not have proper reference as they're still in manuscripts form but still quoted by Acharyas in their books nonetheless)
Ramkosha's definition of hindu
As per Vriddha-Smriti a hindu is one who shuns violence but is also capable of destroying anarchic elements , a protector of vedas and cattles
Definition of Hindu as per Swami Karpatri Ji Mahataj
Shabdkalpa druma and vachaspatyam the most exhaustive sanskrit dictionaries written in 19th century has the word hindu in it and another text called Meru tantra is quoted to define it.
Now guess what Meru tantra has to say about hindu word :p
We all know that
Sanatan Dharma is Vaidika Dharma

But if we compare above definitions

It proves
Hindu Dharma = Sanatan Dharma
Further Lord Ram called himself Sanatan in Ram gita
Conclusions :
1. Hindu = Sanatani
2. Stay away from twitter pandits
3. Hindu was proudly used by our kings so can't be a derogatory term
4. Read Ram gita :p
5. Hindu Dharma = Sanatan Dharma
6. Hindu as a word was used for both geographical and religious identity
