There's a reason for that. https://twitter.com/nazisoverparty/status/1364508483526086656
Amerie drops her debut album, All I Have, in 2002. Her sole producer/collaborator is Rich Harrison. He gives her that signature sound/vocal style. First single is "Why Don't We Fall In Love," followed by "Talkin To Me." She does very well. People love her. [...]
Beyoncé is a fan. She tracks Rich Harrison down. He gives her "Crazy In Love." Uses the same formula he used for Amerie. Same swing/style (vocally *and* visually). It becomes the lead single for the Dangerously In Love album Hits #1. Stays on the charts for 27 weeks. [...]
2005 comes along. Amerie drops her soph album, Touch. The lead single is "1 Thing," which bears a striking resemblance to "Crazy In Love." It's Amerie trying to reclaim a sound that was hers in the first place. But B has already hit the stratosphere. [...]
"1 Thing" peaks at #8 and stays on the charts for 20 weeks. The album is incredible (it's 100x better than All I Have), but at that point, folks have moved on. Am I comparing Amerie to B? Absolutely not. B did what she had to do. But Amerie's career suffered because of it. [...]
So if you weren't watching videos, it's plausible to confuse "1 Thing" as a Bey song. Listen to "Crazy In Love," but picture Amerie. Do the same thing for J Lo's "Get Right." And for Toni Braxton's "Take This Ring Off." Rich was handing out Amerie sound like hors d'oeuvres. [end]
Addendum: I don't need the Hive coming for me. I love B. I'm a fan. She was always destined for greatness. I'm just letting you know that all of this absolutely happened lol.
