A THREAD on why startups are the best learning academies
1. Each team member is required to do multiple things all of which are inter-connected! You automatically learn multiple skills & gain experience in more than one dept
2. You get to closely understand how various parts of the organisation come together towards a common goal
3. Startups teams are very dynamic. Plans, strategies & tactics change rapidly. You have to learn to adapt & quickly
4. You get to interact & speak directly with the Founder, CEO & top management of the organisation. This privilege is rarely seen in big companies where multiple levels exist between you & the top mgmt
5. You are part of a team which is BUILDING the culture of a potentially billion-dollar enterprise
6. Money matters - you learn that every penny is crucial & needs to bring back at least double the value back to the organisation
7. The organisation as a whole is constantly learning, evolving & pivoting. The challenges will open your mind to experiences not seen in big old companies
8. You get to learn that value is built not just through financials but also credibility, customer trust, goodwill & fruitful partnerships
9. Whether you are a stakeholder in the startup or not, you will acquire entrepreneurial qualities through this journey
Having worked in multiple startups, I strongly recommend that if you get the opportunity to work at a startup, grab it with both hands!
