some twitter users have managed to convince themselves and others that joshua bassett is a racist, homophobic individual with SA allegations, but in this thread we& #39;ll unravel the truth *surrounding these awful accusations.
the SA allegations: around july 2020, it was rumored that josh had sexually assaulted a girl named grace. she made a statement on her twitter account, but later deleted it, told a friend of hers in dms that it was a “social experiment” and full on deleted her account.
this allegation caught joshua& #39;s attention, and despite it already being debunked by grace herself, he decided to make the following statement of his own. https://twitter.com/joshuatbassett/status/1275976189698424832?s=19">https://twitter.com/joshuatba...
the second allegation was this person claiming joshua had fingered their friend, who was 16/17. however, the individual never actually claimed the encounter wasn& #39;t consensual, & joshua was just freshly 19 at the time, which means it would& #39;ve been completely legal.
it& #39;s worth noting that the alleged friend joshua fingered never came into the picture, there was absolutely no information coming from that person directly & the person who made this claim for them ended up deleting everything & NEVER labeling it sexual assault.
as for the third allegation, there& #39;s no actual record of it ever existing, anywhere, because it& #39;s nonexistent. there is no third allegation. so, the point is, you should always believe the victim, but in his two cases, there was never an actual victim.
the next point is racism. josh went on a mental health hiatus after being mass bullied over an old comment he made that& #39;ll be addressed below, he wasn& #39;t active on any social media platform for around a month, yet decided to come back with a BLM post/tweet. many argued he was +
+ too late for their taste, but he arguably didn’t want to face the negativity on the internet, as it was clearly hurting him to be active. on his tweets, he mentioned making a donation towards the cause & encouraged followers to do the same. + https://twitter.com/joshuatbassett/status/1267213269657247745?s=19">https://twitter.com/joshuatba...
he was also spotted out protesting alone & with sabrina carpenter before posting about it on social media.
he later took to instagram to write a paragraph about the injustice & cruelty of George Floyd& #39;s murder, & overall racism in America, & on it he mentioned being a bystander on insensitive jokes & even indulging in them at times in his early years, & how remorseful he felt.
you might argue that his statement/apology was insincere, but look at it this way: the most important thing about ignorance is education, learning & evolving. no one knew about his past & what exactly he did or didn& #39;t do, but it proved that he& #39;s genuinely remorseful & asking for+
forgiveness & room to be held accountable while also asking for room to prove to people he learned & evolved from the child he once was. he& #39;s not apologizing cause he got caught or anything of the sort. obviously, no one has to accept the apology, but i think it& #39;s +
+ important to realize people change, mature & evolve. people can educate themselves on something & become better humans overtime, & it& #39;s unfair to act like someone& #39;s past mistakes, especially as a young child, forever denies the quality of their character as they grow.
many people believe josh to be pro-gun and a trump supporter, since his parents are republicans, but that thinking is very shallow. his own political beliefs does not depend on his parents’ beliefs. he is his own person (plus he voted for biden & endorsed biden last year).
the pro-gun thing started because he joined a “shooting stand” and honestly...we don’t believe he is pro-gun cause he once was part of his parents’ weekend activity. he& #39;s never endorsed or even remotely mentioned being in favor of guns.
last point: homophobia. josh commented the f slur once in 2017. he immediately deleted it & apologized for it as linked below. https://twitter.com/joshuatbassett/status/1242239702423359488?s=19">https://twitter.com/joshuatba...
since then, he& #39;s been spotted attending LGBTQ+ protests, has made numerous statements in support of the community & has shown support through his actions. once again, no one has to accept the apology, but as LGBTQ+ people ourselves, we think it& #39;s important to allow +
+ people room for growth and not to rub their past in their faces or let it define them, especially if they& #39;ve shown improvement, evolution & change, which joshua has shown. we believe that joshua taylor bassett has changed for the better, because, as seen above +
he has taken part in pride parades, BLM demonstrations & donated to the causes secretly or lowkey, & has raised his voice to uplift those his younger, child self might& #39;ve hurt in the past. social media often forgets that celebrities are humans too, who might have had a past +
+ they weren& #39;t proud of, or that made mistakes that they& #39;ve grown from and ultimately learned to be better humans. the only difference is that they are constantly under watch. if we allow them to grow from their mistakes & educate themselves instead of instantly sending +
+ hate or toxicity their way, we can create a healthier environment for everyone! is he a perfect human being? not at all, but neither are YOU, and neither is ANYBODY! the two proven mistakes he made happened between the last 3-10 years, time in which he& #39;s evolved immensely.
we& #39;d also like to add that his merch store& #39;s profit, (which is typically the way most stars make the most money out of), goes all to charity. %100 of all the money goes to the charity of the costumer& #39;s choice. below, you can see the list of charities supported.
we added this in to finish it off, because we genuinely think the fact that he refuses to make bank out of merchandise like most stars do & chooses to give it away to charity instead says a lot about his character & shows immense growth. the merchandise has been sold out & +
