SB19 are NOT K-Pop copycats, they’re a P-POP group. If they don’t seem to be fitting K-Pop standards, that’s bc SB19 are leading the P-POP industry in their OWN unique way...

I cannot tell you how many times SB19 has had to clarify + correct ppl that they are P-Pop not K-Pop. They FOUGHT hard for P-Pop + now new groups can easily label themselves as P-Pop w/o being associated w/ K-Pop

If SB19 wasn’t as successful as they are right now, I don’t think that there would be such a quick push or even a sudden demand for other P-Pop groups to be established

Much of the reason, not all, but much of why other P-Pop groups are being created, is because SB19 has opened up many doors and opportunities for other aspiring P-Pop groups and has made the P-Pop industry more desirable and acceptable.

It was NOT easy and SB19 walked into the P-Pop industry knowing that it was still very new, different, and not widely accepted yet. From the very start and even till this day, the group faces much criticism from Filipinos because what they were doing was unconventional.

To anyone who’s gonna attack their visuals- physical attractiveness is completely opinionated (objective), everyone has different preferences and defines beauty differently. To dismiss the appearances of any member is degrading and harmful mentally and emotionally.

SB19 is not a group that gained popularity on the basis of their looks. Ppl support this group because of the qualities that Filipinos often dismiss or give less attention to- their hard work, dedication, and passion.

P-Pop is a genre that the majority of Filipinos aren’t yet comfortable w/ or are not the most familiar w/ in comparison to ballads. It’s not necessarily wrong to support those types of songs BUT...

if Filipinos aren’t willing to support other genres + invest in less traditional concepts, how can Filipino music be marketed to an even larger foreign audience? By rejecting SB19 + P-Pop, the possibility for Filipino music to be recognized on a global scale is also limited

SB19 wants to prove that Filipinos are just as capable as foreign artists + that Filipinos have the potential to compete alongside artists from all around the world. Why bring them down for that?

This group isn't here just to achieve their dreams, they're also working hard to break down barriers to help their fellow Filipinos. They are continually raising the Filipino flag and many FAIL to see that because of close mindedness

Give that same energy you give Filipina candidates in Miss Universe to SB19. At the end of the day, the members of SB19 are no different than any other ordinary Filipino. They will always remain Filipino by blood. And they are ultimately bringing much pride to the Philippines.

Remember the boys are also HUMAN beings just like anyone else. They still deserve the respect and decency that every other person deserves.

P-Pop has its own influences. Even K-Pop + American music have foreign influences. No one fully owns a genre, like Pablo said. If Filipinos can embrace K-Pop + American music that ALSO have various foreign influences, why can’t they accept or at least respect P-Pop?

Yes, SB19 is under a Korean entertainment company. Yes, SB19 went through the Korean training system. Yes, SB19 can speak some Korean and have done K-Pop dance covers. However, those things DO NOT entirely define SB19 nor their music

If anything, SB19 took those things to their advantage. Their training process produced some of the most well-rounded artists in the PH. ShowBT saw potential in the members + only utilized the Korean training system to enhance + solidify the talents that they already possessed

SB19 is the very reason why P-POP and Filipino talent are getting recognized globally on major platforms like Billboard and MTV. AMERICAN platforms btw. Don’t tell me that isn’t already a huge accomplishment, bc it is. And some still choose to bash them because??
