Western paradigm. This hardly fixes the issue and only artificially conceals the issue, ultimately the problem is just pushed down the line. One day people will have to choose between Islam and western values. But let's look at some popular reinterpretations of Islam and show

Why they're a problem.

1) Jihad in Islam is only defensive.

This is an extremely popular reinterpretation, the vast majority of common Muslims now believe this is against the agreement of pretty much everyone. However let's consider what the modern dawah people are saying

According to them the only reason Muslims engaged in war was because of self defense and not because of religion. Think about what they're saying, they make the implication that fighting for religion is bad but fighting for self preservation is good. Essentially they're saying

Kufr isn't really that bad, what's really bad and justifies war is infringing on sovereignty (this has a whole set of other issues). Now ofc any sane Muslim only cares for what Allah has commanded, so if Allah did prohibit all war they'd accept that and if He commanded

All war they'd accept that. A true Muslim understands Allah is the lord. Now imagine someone's "doubts" are cleared by this defensive only stuff, would it not be the case that they're literally only Muslim if Allah's commands fit into what they want? Isn't that a problem?

2) Islam intended to prohibit slavery

This is really problematic, as what exactly is intended by Islam here? Allah? So are these people saying Allah wanted to ban it but couldn't? Any possible explanation they try giving only makes sense if you believe Islam isn't from Allah.

"the economy", so Allah now isn't the provider? It doesn't take a genius to figure out the problem, and by trying to appease western morality the preachers are literally preaching disbelief.

3) the marriage to Aisha was acceptable back then

This is true and it would have

Been acceptable throughout most of human history, but it fails to see that as a matter of principle in Islam people can marry with big age gaps to younger people. People who have accepted western morality will not accept that it's okay for a 50 year old to marry an 18 year old

Let alone someone younger, yet there's no real way such Marriages could be condemned in Islam. So the argument of the modern dawah people just doesn't make sense and essentially says that the prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم was a man of his time and not an example to be followed.

And if they genuinely believe that, then they have fallen into disbelief.

4) women inherit less than their brothers because their brothers have more responsibilities.

This is true but again it fails to understand the modern feminist. The feminist sees herself as an absolute

Equal to men, and as such they should have the same responsibilities. The very fact that Islam even recognises a difference between men and women is a problem for them. There's no way you can reconcile with them unless either you or them change.

The big problem is that the modern dawah scene is just capitulating to western morality, they just accept the superiority of western morality, even if they don't outright say it. The only reason you feel that you must

Justify these things in Islam is if you think that in normal circumstances they're wrong. And the sad reality is that most modern people, including those who claim Islam, have a fundamental issue with the shariah. And this is only made worse when those who don't have an issue are

Branded as extremists or trouble causers, as you literally recreate Islam in the image of the west such that if there were people who would accept Islam, they're not given that option as you're offering your new version of Islam.
