Tips on creating better content.

Everyone these days is a content creator and there’s completely nothing wrong with that, we need as many creators as we can get but not everyone does content marketing well, irrespective of the medium and platform, content creation comes down to one thing: creating VALUE.
1/. Content is about NOW: Learn as much as you can about your industry and craft, being and staying relevant to your audience ensures that you’re constantly top of mind and sharing solutions to problems for consumer consumption or even brand.
Great creators are curious and stay ahead of their industries trends, opportunities and innovations. The more you know, the more you can put out.
2/. Understand Your Audience: This requires a bit of research but it’s very pivotal. You need to understand who is going to see, hear or watch what you create. If you create content that is generic you’ll become a part of the noise. Build a buyer persona because
great content is created with the involvement, feed-back, and direction of your audience in mind.
3/. Improve your skills: Learn to use your camera better, learn to write more effective copy or captions. If you want to be great at something you’ll need to get close enough to perfecting it so that you’re able to carve your own lane and stand out — Execution matters!
4/. Create often: Be consistent at what you create, the more you create, the more growth and traffic you’ll start seeing. You’ll have to commit to getting the work done, build consistency, credibility and a healthy track record. These things make monetization easier.
5/. It’s not about you: “Social media is about the people. Not about your business. Provide for the people and the people will provide for you and your business” — @janetmachuka_

Irrespective of medium and platform, great content creators are public servants.
6/. Highlight the value: Why should people consume your content? The new video you just put up? The beautifully captured Instagram image or your latest think piece? Consider what’s in it for your audience, it could be a feeling, and experience, new information, drama or humor,
Make the value of consuming your content clear.
7/. Create curiosity / mystery: Content shouldn’t always be presented in its entirety, as a content creator you are also a storyteller and the driver of the ship for your audience, take them on a journey, it could be a question, a call to action, a trailer to new work.
Provide intriguing but incompletely information where you can, this creates curiosity resulting in a knowledge gap and your audience clicking through, or simply waiting for the final content piece in excitement — Content shouldn’t be boring.
8/. Simplify: Simple content always wins, considering the attention span and the spam on digital platforms, your content is fighting for space by default so don’t be a part of the clutter. Avoid using heavy jargon, imagery that isn’t appealing or essay like headlines or captions.
End.
