A thread of great sandwiches in Greater Los Angeles that cost less than $10. Fuck a $15 sandwich.
The #8 Charbroiled Pork Sandwich at Bahn Mi My Tho in Alhambra, $4.75!
The best sandwich in LA County at any price. I usually get a side of meatballs.
The Godmother at Bay Cities in Santa Monica, get a small with the works for $7.50 because the large is damn big.
The Sandwich at Roma Market in Pasadena. They only sell the one Italian sandwich for $5.50 and it& #39;s perfect
The groceries are fantastic too, the owner will gladly recommend his favorite staples if he& #39;s around.

Be sure to read the great LA Times write up https://www.latimes.com/food/story/2020-07-10/roma-market-deli-sandwich">https://www.latimes.com/food/stor...
Phillipe& #39;s French Dips are an LA icon. Get the beef for $9.25
Also, it& #39;s a low-key great place for breakfast frequented by construction workers.

I& #39;m a fan of the rival dip at Cole& #39;s, but no restaurant with a "speakeasy" is making this list.
Get any Bahn Mi at Golden Deli in San Gabriel for $6. Then make your way down the entire menu because it& #39;s all fantastic.

Grinders at Connal& #39;s in Pasadena are fantastic. I like the turkey breast for $5.39
Larchmont Village Wine& #39;s $9 Soppressata Salami sando comes with cornichons & black olives and will give you the true experience of being a writer& #39;s room PA on some comedy your parents will never remember.
Go to Mario& #39;s Italian Deli & Market in Glendale for the S.O.B. (Sopressata, Oven Roasted Chicken, and Balsamic Vinegar), $8.95. Lots of great Italian groceries & drinks. Once got this insane squid ink pasta that looked like a wig
There tends to be a big ass line on the weekends
Eggslut& #39;s breakfast sandwiches ($8.25) used to be one of the first places I would take friends visiting from overseas. Not worth the big lines, but still damn good.
Had no idea how much they& #39;ve expanded. Locations in all around LA and Vegas, Tokyo and Seoul now, which makes sense
Highland Park institution Galco& #39;s recently brought back their Blockbuster sandwich at $6.99 for the 8" and it& #39;s great! Really, the reason to go there is for the delightful owner John Nesse and his top tier selection of sodas.
El Cochinito has THE BEST Cuban sandwich I& #39;ve ever had, $10!
The Cochinito sando with maduros inside for $1 more is a damn treat .Without a doubt my favorite restaurant in LA, it reminds me of Miami.
Eastside Italian Deli tucked away in Chinatown has all the sub classics for around $9.29. "a masterpiece in hot italian subs" - @TheTrueHman
Closes by 4pm on weekdays and fully closed on weekends :(
Pastrami sammies usually aren& #39;t that cheap, but Pasadena doesn& #39;t fuck around when it comes to sandwiches.
The Hat and Lucky Boy both sell great pastramis for almost $10 and both places feel like they haven& #39;t been renovated since 1982.
GIAMELA& #39;S! All the cold sandwiches at the Atwater location are $10-11. I <3 the Turkey w/ Pesto Mayo. Squeeze that pepperoncini juice all over it
The Burbank location has a more limited menu and is $1 cheaper. The pastrami is daaaamn good.
Vince& #39;s Market in Atwater, $3-5 sandos!
Small little corner store with great soft rolls. Simple and good as hell. Thanks @alexmce!
Kien Giang Bakery in Echo Park specializes in cakes, but their $7 Banh Mi is fantastic. On a shrinking list of affordable places in eat in the area.
Eagle Rock Italian Bakery & Deli is yet another great grocery spot slinging sammies. Definitely an unsung hero in NELA. I get the Italian combo, can& #39;t find the price online, but their others are all sub $9. Their baked goods are great too!
Handy Market in Burbank is a new favorite of mine. Just a solid ass selection of American classics. Their $9 tri-tip is only available on Saturdays. Their butchershop is also a nice neighborhood fav.
A couple blocks west on Magnolia is Pinocchio& #39;s with classic red sauce fare like meatball subs for $9 and the Monte Carlo Combo for $8, get that garlic bread and come back for the gelato.
Holdaak in Highland Park does Korean style fried chicken sandwiches that are so damn good. The spicy is $7.50. I& #39;m honestly partial to their fried chicken salad, but that& #39;s because they put ranch on it and I& #39;m too white to resist.
Lee& #39;s Sandwiches is the type of chain I& #39;d love to see all over the city of LA. Their #1 combination sandwich is $3.99 is daaaaamn good. They have locations all over Orange County, but also 3 in the SGV and another in Lake Balboa
My Dung in Chinatown is a great little hole-in-the-wall general store selling Banh Mis for for $3.50
Lanza Brothers is the kinda place you& #39;d love to have down the street from your house of where you work. Classic subs from a convenience store from $5 to $7

Located between Lincoln Park and Chinatown, right by the San Antonio Winery you can see off the freeway.
Huge Tree Pastry& #39;s baked sesame bread with beef IS a sandwich, despite not being called one on their menu ($4, Monterey Park).
I LOVE Taiwanese breakfast and really the stars on this menu is the beef roll, salty fan tuan, and their homemade soy milk.
Delicias Bakery in Highland Park is clutch! They& #39;ve got a great VEGAN milanesa torta and the pan dulces you want. I really like the pre-made grab and go and sandwiches. Those were really helpful to me while editing from home in HLP.
Santoro& #39;s in Burbank has very solid $9-10 subs. Honestly, I only bring this one up because Jamie Kennedy did some pranks in blackface here for the Jamie Kennedy Experiment. No I won& #39;t link to it, but oh boy are they weird!
How could I forget Continental Gourmet Sausage Co.! A German deli in Glendale. I forget the exact price, but I think you can get the whole lunch meal with a sandwich, pickle, and a side fro like $7? (don& #39;t quote me on that) The German deli and snacks selection is also fantastic!
Peco& #39;s Bill BBQ in Glendale, very near Burbank! $5.95 shredded pork and beef sandwiches. So incredibly sloppy, in the best way. Such a great unassuming little hole-in-the-wall. Only open for lunch from 11am - 3pm, Thursday - Sunday.
DeFranko’s Submarines in Van Nuys!
$8.75 for this small Italian Cold Cut. That sesame seed bun is damn good.

The sausage sandwich (choripan) from New Buenos Aires in Burbank is a new favorite! $9.90! It’s basically just Argentinian sausage & chimichurri on a baguette and it’s delightful. They do so much great Argentinian food. Also pictured: empanada & alfajores (dulce de leche cookies)
