At this point, my only hope is that Mars leaving Aries (February 21) will lead to a release of tension in terms of people thinking they can do whatever they want without consequences, and the government insisting upon moving normally in the face of gross abnormality.
Mars in Taurus may bring:
»Massive campaigns encouraging doubling up on masks, N95/KN95 masks, mass distribution of masks
Mars in Taurus will be reinforcing + cooperating w/ the planets remaining in Capricorn—Jupiter & Saturn. Mars in Aries has been about preserving capitalism at any at all costs. Mars in Taurus could be promising by bringing more sobriety towards the reality we find ourselves in.
The complicating factor here is that Jupiter will enter Aquarius in April. So all of the Aquarius transits leading up to that time, including the current Mercury retrograde that began in earnest back in January, are giving us a prelude to what that Jupiter transit will bring.
The square between Taurus and Aquarius is a sticky conversation around erasure. Jupiter in Aquarius (April to September 2021 and then again December to sometime in 2022) demands we redefine what makes a person a person. That process is never without violence.
Dissociation is ne of Aquarius’s survival mechanisms. This is how the self remains in tact when one does not have the power or ability to withdraw from the source of harm, or process harm because it is relentless & nonstop. So instead of physically running you mentally retreat.
Disidentification is Aquarius’s other survival mechanism. Aquarius learned early on that they could not trust other people’s perceptions to be an accurate reflection of who they truly are.
When you’re experiencing yourself one way and the people around you treat you as something else, it creates a contradiction that is resolved by conforming to other people’s perceptions, conforming to your own perceptions, or ceasing to exist in your own mind at all.
We have all been dissociating on some level. Having our fight, flight, or freeze reactions being triggered by the constant threat of illness, home loss, job loss, or death can make the body uninhabitable.
The nervous system can it does absolutely get overloaded to the point that our sanity is on the line.
And then when we bring the dynamics of race, gender, and economic class into the picture we are left to wonder if we actually exist at all because those who have the power to acknowledge our existence act as if we are invisible.
So, what makes a person a person? And who gets to make that decision? What are the benefits of personhood? What are the consequences of erasure + invisibility to the state, your community, your family, at your job, and in your most personal and intimate relationships?
We’ve 1001 defenses prepared for why we cannot abolish the police and why we cannot dismantle capitalism. This from the people who actually have the privilege of interrogating their minds on these questions because they are materially comfortable + have their needs more than met.
