In 2021 I am trying to get into classical music. I hate anything baroque and frankly find everything boring until like the 1850s on, but from there I start to very much enjoy it. This will be a thread of favorites found throughout the year.
Samuel Barber, Essay For Orchestra No. 1, Opus 12
Arvo Pärt, Fratres
Samuel Barber, Violin Concerto Op. 14, movement II
Always good to find a new, interesting take.

Debussy, Clair de Lune
Erik Satie - Gnossienne No. 4
Satie - Gymnopedie No. 2 for orchestra
Satie - Gymnopedie no. 1 for orchestra

Arranged be Debussy (!) which makes it especially devastating.
This 2021 exercise has pooled into me mostly just listening to Sam Barber over and over again.

Intermezzo from Vanessa
I am slightly obsessed with this piece, esp. movement 2 (10:26). I could live without movement 3 if I had to.

Barber - Violin Concerto, Op. 14
But I just realized this Pärt piece and performance is not in this thread, and I don’t know why.

Arvo Pärt - Cantus in Memoriam Benjamin Britten
