Stolen from friends but I'm gonna do a thread of all the media I experience this year, so for a bit if catch up we have mario 64. Good game, I've talked about it at length.
Kung Fo Panda trilogy. Much better than I expected, the action in all was absolutely incredible.
Rambo: First Blood. Absolutely nothing like I was expecting. The middle drags a bit but the ending is absolutely incredible. Action is also pretty solid but not stand out for an 80s movie. Fun time though
Airplane: Absolute pure comedy, holy shit is this movie funny. My personal favorite but is easily the Mayo Room. A must watch. From what I know it's a parody of a movie I haven't seen which makes it all the more impressive
The Life of Brian: For all it's hype I was left a but underwhelmed. Most of the humor sort of just missed it's marked. I think I need to see one of two more Month Pythons to see if it's really for me
Love Live Nijigasaki: Somehow it falls flatter than the former too. It takes a new approach with each episode focused on a different girl but almost solely them. With a major lack of character interactions they end up much more forgettable than before. Except Nakasu, she's great
What Happened to Monday: A pretty decent action flick. The ICE metaphor was pretty amusing ( @OliveOilLube you spotting that made the movie a lot funnier) for characters named after days of the week all the characters were actually pretty likeable. Alright time
Godzilla: King of the Monsters
Monster Fight? :)
Humans? :////
Attack on Titan S1 - damn this was actually great. Not perfect but I'm incredibly excited to see how it grows. The animation was so incredibly fluid, their gear things are just awesome to watch. Armin goat btw
Attack on Titan S2- an absolute fuckin trip, really hightens the focus on the side cast which was greatly needed. And the shit that goes down this season is absolutely insane. Riener new goat.
Attack on Titan S3- Feels a bit tiring to keep staring the same things but it really does just build and build. Everything in this season is fucking insane, the PT 2, The cave, the fucking BASEMENT. Kenny arc felt kinda fillery but that's really it.
Smol Ame- wasn't sure if I should include it since its less than 30 minutes long but its a cute fan game. Its cool to see communities make group projects like this. The Pops on Rocks level is really cool. The Haachama level is just as obnoxious as you would expect.
Fling to the Finish- Only a demo so far but what i played it was super fun. Team games like this are always a blast... When it isn't absurdly glitchy. @okvirgin we were so big brained
Lego Batman Movie- It's absolutely hilarious that's for sure. Pretty much every joke landed. It sorta drags in the sentimental parts though, batman can be a bit obnoxious, and the voice gets kinda grating but I do recommend. It has Kite Man.
Close Enough- Forgot to do one for this, but its still very very good. Its exactly what you expect from a more adult Regular Show, def recommend this.
The Goonies: an incredible adventure film, I adored it's set, and it had a fantastic cast. A real gem
Tom and Jerry movie. I missed 30 minutes of this and it still felt too long. Literally exactly what you would think. Droopy cameo was funny tho.
WandaVision- Its really good! Even though I can't stand SitComs, I enjoyed the first few eps, and the overall mysteries were great to watch week to week. I do think the ending was a tad rushed, maybe an episode with extra focus on Hayward and SWORD's (spoiler) would have helped
Hyrule Warriors AOC: I want to say something nice about this game but it really is just ok. It's fun enough but the story is lacking and wow does it get tedious after a while. You fight the calamities like 10 times each. Impa is the best character she just breaks the game in 2
Back to the Future: A real blast of a Movie. time travel is always something I'm super iffy on but wow this was just so fun. Also I learned that the DeLorian was a real car
Godzilla vs Kong- Now this is what the monsterverse needed from the start! I do think this movie really excels where it needs to, the balence between the humans and monster is much better here than before, and I think that's in large part due to Kong actually being the MC here-
He gets an actual arc and we actually get to learn and sympathize with him wayy more than the humans we don't care about, and even Godzilla. (He's still a force of nature mainly) The fights are also way better, considering they aren't all clouded by rain.
Back to the Future III- Yes I skipped the second one, fuck you. Was alright. Kinda slow, kinda forced but still pretty fun in general. Ok/10
Secrets of the Zoo - After visiting the Columbus Zoo last week I had to check of the show about it, and its a lot of fun. Its such a different experience after actually being there, cute little nature show.
unless the seasons after 1 are dramatically different I probably wont bother to mention em here in depth
ATTACK ON TITAN whenever S3 ended - final chapter - A pretty fantastic final leg of the manga, it was intense, thrilling, hit me in the feels every step of the way, buuut the final few chapters did feel a tad clunky. Absolutely does not take a way from the whole though.
Yuru Camp S2- Its funny, for a show I have so little so say about, I love it to pieces. I don't think you can find a comfier, feel good show. The entire thing is pure cozy injected right into your veins. I have to say I think I preferred S1 on the basis of it focusing more on Rin
Everyone else in S1 gets their own little mini arc here which by makes it much more rounded but I just loved Rin's stories in S1, and the moments with her grandfather are peak, wish we got more. This show just makes me want to pack everything and head to the middle of nowhere.
Jujutsu Kaisen - This shit is gas go watch it.
I have nothing but the highest praise for this show, absolutely phenomenal, from the animation to the characters to the power system, which while simple is so creative and full of creativity. Not to mention the cast who, with the kinda exception of Gojo use it to the fullest
Falcon & the Winter Soilder - This show is great, not perfect but incredibly solid. As it stands it's easily one of the best MCU things (?) Yet. It's 6 hours does more for Falcon & Bucky than anything yet, and Walker is easily already one of the best MCU character to date
Only real issue is the flagsmashers. They're subplot was gutted in reshoots and reshuffling to scrub the show clean of a pandemic plotline and they really suffer because of it.
Over the Garden Wall - So this thread is meant to be about new media I experienced this year but I'm breaking that rule here because it's a 10/10 and I love it it slaps.
