In as little as *2 hours* per day, you can give your child a better education than they would get in government schools.

How?

/ THREAD
Most of the time your child spends in public school is filler.

It is organized around the least mature or least advanced, and they have to wrangle a huge number of diverse students.

6+ hours at school then another 2 hours of homework - this can be condensed.
And this is *before* you take into account nonsense subjects and modern pushes to include Critical Race Theory.

Let's break down what a school day at home might look like.
Math - 20 minutes.

5 minutes review and 5 minutes new lesson.

The rest is practice.
Reading - 10 minutes for younger children. Longer for older.

But once they can read on their own, this requires almost no supervision on your part.

Just be familiar with what they are reading so you can ask them some questions later.
History - 20 minutes.

5 minutes review.

Another one where you don't need to directly observe, once they can read proficiently.

Some curriculums will include cyclical, daily review as well.
Writing and Copywork - 10 to 30 minutes.

Again, depends on age.

Cursive is good to learn. Find beautiful passages for them to copy and practice with.
Science - 10 to 30 minutes.

As they get older, some days will be longer as you do experiments or take them outdoors.

But there are "experiments in a box" you can get and you won't do one every day.
Spelling - 15 minutes.

Lots of options here, but you can also just pull lists from what they are reading.
That's literally all you need.

If you also read to your kids every night, choosing books that are above their current reading level

you will have a kid who will be better educated than most kids coming out of public school.
But you don't want to just get by.

You probably want to homeschool because you want your kid to *excel*.

So add whatever else you want.

Latin.
Gun range.
Drawing.
Piano and music.
Computer Programming.
Religious studies.
Martial arts.

Whatever you want.
And any of these don't have to take up much extra time.

Here is another secret.

Ready?
You don't have to do every subject every day.

You don't even have to do school 5 days a week.

You don't even have to do school 4 days per week.

Don't lose sight of one of the biggest advantages of homeschooling.

Flexibility.
Here is what we use for resources and curriculum.

Math: Math-u-see
Reading: Memoria Press book lists.
Science: we attend a co-op that does science.
Writing: Classical Academic Press
Latin: Classical Academic Press
Spelling: Phonetic zoo
History: Co-op and Story of the World
And then we mix in some piano and art.

Now that some kids are older, my wife spends less than 2 hours per day. And that's with 3 kids.
