BKDK AU: QL!Dk, UAStudent!Bk, Break up (kinda? aka bk's a fucking idiot), Angst w/ a Happy Ending

“I’m going to be a hero for both of us, Izuku.”

That was the last thing Katsuki had said to Izuku before fucking /ghosting/ him.
It had been after venting about his kidnapping and how he was the cause of All Might’s downfall (which Izuku assured him it was most definitely not). Before that, their dates, text messages, and calls were already dwindling, but Izuku had understood because Kacchan was busy-
being the best student he could be at UA. He understood still when Kacchan stopped texting or calling him at all after that conversation. Izuku had texted a few times to check up but never got a response. He figured that Kacchan wanted space to cope with the traumatic experience,
so he gave him time. But then days turned into weeks into months and then Izuku had heard from his mother that Kacchan had brought his boyfriend home during break.

Izuku was heartbroken.

Kacchan was home during break and didn’t bother to visit him. Kacchan had a new boyfriend.
What went wrong?

After the sludge incident, Katsuki and Izuku had made up and became friends which then led them to dating. When Kacchan got his acceptance letter into UA, they shared their first kiss and that day was one of Izuku’s favorites despite him not getting in.
When school started, they saw each other less, but their calls and text messages were still going strong. Kacchan still made an effort to see Izuku a few times a week and they hung out every weekend. Even when all of those things became less frequent, Izuku’s feelings never-
dwindled.

He really loved Kacchan. More than anyone or anything. He was sure that Kacchan had felt the same way...

Yet Katsuki left him with no explanation.
Maybe Kacchan had found someone better at UA, someone who wasn’t /quirkless/. Maybe he wasn’t good enough and Kacchan got tired of him. Maybe Izuku was /never/ good enough and Kacchan was messing with him the entire time. He didn’t know and he didn’t want to find out.
Izuku took the hint, took the little dignity he had left, took the broken pieces of his heart, and turned his back on Kacchan.
tbc!
It’s been a year since his break up- could he call it that if Katsuki never actually broke up with him?- with Kacchan and Izuku was happy. It was crazy because at the time, Izuku had thought that his entire world was collapsing because Kacchan was his foundation. But turns out,-
Izuku doesn’t need him in his life. He was getting the best grades in his class, had many friends who accepted him for who he was, and he moved on (or at least he likes to think he did), was talking to this boy that really liked him and that he thinks he might really like too.
It was on a date with said boy that he ran into Kacchan again.

“Acchaaan!” Izuku whined as he tugged on the boy, Aoi’s, sleeve, “Cakeeee!”

The taller boy gave a sigh, gentle blue eyes crinkling from a fond smile, “We just ate, Zu.”
He pouted, puffing his cheeks out in indignation, “But dessert!”

“Hai, hai.” Aoi ruffles his hair and indulges him, leading him to a nearby cafe.

They’re about to turn a corner when Izuku runs into someone, “Ah!”
“Oh dude, I’m so sorry!” A yellow haired boy bows apologetically, “Are you okay?!”

“No, no! I’m sorry, I wasn’t looking where I was goi-” Izuku stops, realizing that he recognizes the boy, “You’re Kaminari Denki!”

“You know me?” Kaminari beams, pointing to himself.
“Yeah! I watched you at the Sports Festival last year! You were super co-”

“Dumbass! I told you to stop running ahead of us!”

Izuku froze at the familiar voice. It didn’t matter how long he had gone without hearing it, he knew the voice belonged to-
“Kacchan…” Wide viridian eyes met vermillion.

“Deku?” Katsuki reaches out to Deku, but the shorter boy is yanked backwards away from him.

Katsuki’s eyes trail to Aoi who’s hand clasped Izuku’s.
“Let’s go, Zu.” Aoi glared at the red eyed boy who he had heard about and was understandably not very fond of, “We’ll go to another cafe.”

“Zu?” Katsuki’s expression turned to a scowl as he sized the taller boy up, “Who the fuck are you?”
Aoi was slightly taller than Katsuki himself but less buff. He had tan skin, blue eyes and blue hair. Asshole even had a beauty mark under his eye. Begrudgingly, Katsuki could admit that he’s attractive… kind of… if you were 100 ft away and squinted.
“Izuku’s boyfriend.” Aoi lied confidently.

The greenette gaped at his friend. What was he doing?! Why would he lie about that?! They weren’t even official! They were only talking and mutually understood that Deku wasn’t sure of his feelings but was willing to give him a chance.
“What the fuck are you talking about?” Katsuki growled, eyes turning to Izuku, “Deku, who the fuck is he?”

“He’s-” Izuku hurried to tell the truth but then paused.
Why did he have to tell Katsuki anyways? He didn’t owe him an explanation. Katsuki had no right to ask about him or
his relationships.

“My boyfriend.” Izuku finished, lying to his childhood friend for the first time his entire life.

Katsuki looked at him in disbelief, “What?”

“It’s none of your business, Bakugou.” Izuku glares coldly.
The blonde looked hurt, his scowl immediately dropping into a look of disbelief, like a kicked puppy.

Izuku’s hands twitched to reach out to him but he reminded himself not to. He had made so much progress, there was no way he was going to let Kacch- Katsuki ruin it again.
That’s right. For the first time in their lives, Katsuki had nothing to do with him.

Izuku huffs, hand squeezing Aoi's before leaving.

He told himself that it Katsuki deserved it. That’s what he got for abandoning Izuku. Katsuki had NO right, NONE, to look so betrayed.
So why did it sound like he was trying to convince himself?
