open this thread if you are planning to run away from home /safe /srs
while reading this thread please keep in mind that i am not telling you what to do - just trying to share different perspectives! it will be different for everybody (bc of your age, laws in your country etc) - take what you can and pass it on
i do not encourage this if you're below 16. it is unsafe and very difficult to get a job - i recommend completing high school if possible or staying with a relative first. please only resort to running away if you feel unsafe/are severely abused, leaving you with no other option
financial wise - this is the most important aspect. you have to consider things like your rent, phone bill, transport, food and other things. depending on where you live the amount you need can vary heavily. plan out how much you need
do not leave home without enough money unless you are in danger. if this is the case for you, please at least have $100-150 and a small bag ready full of things you need, so that you can take the bag and leave anytime.
getting the money is hard, if you can find a job, that is an amazing start. however, some people cannot so here is a small list of ways to help you earn money. please remember every dollar counts too, so save up!
- sell your clothes / items you would not bring to leave
- handcraft things to sell
- online jobs ( write articles for websites, surveys, atexto )
- sweatcoin ( the app, helps in the long run! read t&cs for it first )

you have to find a place to stay. if you're a minor i hope you can stay with relatives/friends, but if you're searching for a place to stay in the long run, make sure it's near where you're going to work. check out malls/shops nearby to see if they're hiring.
before leaving, learn how to cook simple + low cost meals. this also depends on what kind of facilities you will have in your new home. if you can find a job in F&B they sometimes provide free meals which helps you save extra money too.
a credit card may help you bc carrying that much cash is not safe, be careful of where you're using it because they track your transactions! do not borrow money from anyone!!!! have at least 2-3 months worth of rent saved up before leaving
*IMPORTANT* PLEASE do research on the laws/protection for running away in your country!! you can get into trouble more easily than you think - so read up, and don't carry anything like drugs, alcohol etc with you. steer clear of anything that can be used against you
when you leave home, you need to recognize the things/ whatever safety net that you previously had will be gone. financial security is important but please remember your emotional health too. keep contact with friends you trust and
take something meaningful to keep you going. you need to be able to support yourself in every single way possible.
medical needs - if you have any medical conditions, please remember to add in the cost for that as well and ways you can manage to take care of yourself. you need to not just run away, but also survive! plan everything in detail and have a backup plan for your backup plans
