katsuki who overhears Mina talking to ochako about wanting a new years kiss and katsuki—who just started dating deku—can't help but eavesdrop on their conversation.

it was some bullshit about kissing when the clock strikes 12, and at the moment the fireworks light up the night sky. how apparently it was /soo/ romantic.

/pfft, how romantic can that be? it's just a fucking kiss?/

but katsuki talks a lot of shit for someone that's never been kissed. he and deku hadn't reach that point in their relationship yet.

so far all they've done is hold hands, which katsuki has been very content with. he loves deku's hands, down to every scar and bump.

everything is so new to him. he honestly feels he doesn't have one romantic bone in his body. but what if deku gets bored of him?

surely, couples are supposed to do more and he's already so fucking grateful that Izuku even agreed to date him.

he knows he needs to up the ante if he wants his relationship to progress.

they agreed to spend their new years eve away from everyone. katsuki's excuse was that he sleeps early and deku pretended he was sick.

it was nobody else's business but their own if they wanted to spend this time together.

katsuki made a bento for them to share in his room and then they watched a movie on his laptop. they were sitting so closely on the bed, with their hands clasped together. katsuki made sure to keep an eye on his wrist watch so he wouldn't miss his chance.

it was 11:46 p.m. when deku started rubbing his hand with his thumb, a new touch that nearly made katsuki flinch as he looked up to meet shining green eyes that looked at him so tenderly.

katsuki stood still completely mesmerized in Izuku's green eyes and izuku seemed to do the same. they hardly noticed when the both of them started leaning into each other until their noses were almost touching.

/wait, no they're supposed to kiss at the strike of midnight!/

katsuki pulls away with flushed cheeks, completely missing the disappointed look on Izuku's face. katsuki checks his watch.

11:50 p.m.

almost time.

"it's getting late." izuku says softly and katsuki looks up at him wide-eyed, "I should go..."

izuku tried to get up but katsuki grabbed his hand again.

"i thought you wanted to spend new years with me..." katsuki sounds defeated.

"i'm-I'm tired." was Izuku's simple reply, he still didn't look back at him.

was he mad because he pulled away?

"don't go—/please/."

the please seemed to do the trick because izuku looked back at him just in time that his watch read, 11:59:46 p.m.

katsuki wasted no time in cupping Izuku's face with one hand and pressing a soft quick kiss on his lips, testingly.

fireworks began to blow up somewhere in the distance but the fireworks in katsuki's head were much louder as he kissed a shocked izuku again.

izuku was quick to wrap his arms around his boyfriend's neck and deepen the kiss until they were breathless.

"happy new year, izuku."
