as humans, how do yall feel about genetic crossbreeding of animals from different species but can still breed (when caused by humans) see tiger king. ligers zonkeys zorses bottlenode dolphin killer whale hybrids etc
for the people that think its cool or dont care, how do you feel about the possible reality that humans can not only allegedly interbreed w chimpanzees, but gorillas and orangutans as well? apparently studies show because we all descend from a great ape ancestor, its possible.
in my opinion, its silly and hypocritical to have no issue with it until human dna is on the line. its the same concept. humans seem to forget we are animals alot of the time because we are able to study ourselves and others lmao. for everyone. if one was made, wat do we do w it?
lets get into the fragile and obviously evershifting concept of humanity.... you technically could let them live in the wild with its nonhuman parent (even though most to all crossbreeding happens in captivity) this is assuming their genetics allow for human learning (probable)
it probably would be sterile anyway, and other than the guilt of it not being able to survive as successfully as it would with one species’ genetics (it will probably get around and eat fine, but disease susceptibility might be an issue). if it wasnt sterile. what now? (see next)
what are the options for raising a new being on this world, with everything else going on? in order to stop a new subspecies, you would have to hold that human hybrid. captive and/or sterilize it. is that behavior acceptable for a being that for genetic purposes, is human and not
there is the issue of consent for all parties involved, most importantly the nonhuman and human hybrid beings. now. would you consider a hybrid human a human in the way we hold a species unifying recognition for other humans?
afropessimist opinions are like..... useful in this theoretical experiment im using, and chattel slavery and human/property is an obvious reference point for the entire conversation, but im struggling to think those logics might get in the way (or help greatly) considering +
unfortunately in human society, every animal (including humans) has the potential to become or be born into the status of property. so. back to our hybrid (im already emotionally attached to the idea of it and if they were to exist i would want then to live a fully CHOSEN life)
TW beastiality

what if. a human-great ape (chimp, gorilla, orangutan) hybrid were to be conceived. naturally. and. “consentually” (as we can possibly conceive of as humans, which stems from our idea that animals less “intelligent” than us are unable to give consent) see next-
even i struggle to even think of the proper question to ask in a scenario like that. beastiality, or rather cross species intercourse involving humans, is a very human concept stemming from the seperation of us from other animals. i also think its very icky but must acknowledge +
that fact, that other animals obviously dont have qualms with NATURAL crossbreeding, since they have no concept (to my understanding) of “beast” and “human” with that knowledge/perspective along w the data that shows we are that similar (gene wise)to apes, maybe the approach +
would human-great ape hybrids have any place in human society? the overwhelming answer would be no. as all of you have access to the internet. but i beg this question. if it was happening already in a natural setting that isnt touched by common perceptions of beast/human +
it would obviously be predicated by a human culture/agreed set of norms and values that has no issues with that type of action, so to them. yes. and thats all that matters in terms of that question. a more interesting question comes to my mind..is it ethical to intervene/stop it?
with the last option being the most interesting culmination of ideas ive come to in my thread. if we were to call that unnatural/immoral, we would have to justify it beyond the scope of beastiality (in that hyperspecific context) and what exactly we see as natural and nature
the myth of human society being separate from the natural world is at the root of this dilemma that I have posed. all things that exist and happen in the universe is natural relative to the universe by proxy, unfortunately in many scenarios. that same logic applies to Earth.
thats my take, which can easily be misconstrued as apologism or agreement with beastiality. that is not a sentiment I am expressing. I am challenging the human notion of what is natural, cuz that concept is based off of our many misconceptions about our place/status on the planet
i do want to clarify however that when i say by proxy in the tweet below, that was a character limit issue. by virtue*** of something happening in our universe, it is natural because it is possible, human moralities aside. that is what i am getting at with this tweet. https://twitter.com/valentine2fine/status/1343587138328272898
since im posing the question, i will leave this thread for now with my opinion. idk. and i can think of reasons why people would want to intervene in that scenario. but i would have to ask them, knowing not all humans share the same ideas of humans/beast, isnt that selfish?
+ im not referring to one person here, i said a (lets say small but size shouldn’t matter) population of people have no issue with it, not to be kinky or subversive, but cuz that is both the reality of nature to them and natural to them, is it selfish to intervene off your ideas?
again the last answer posing such interesting ideas. my answer: yes i think it is selfish. i dont know if it is necessary in that scenario. its neither a yes or no on that front for me, which doesnt make much sense. if i had the power to, idk if i could do that to other humans.
regardless of how you view the human hybrids, you have to acknowledge that independently organized human will and conception of self + other is at the root of that scenario. last question.if YOU had the power(remember it is an issue of human culture/relations),would you intervene
there is a powerful distinction between agreeing with an intervention, and being the one to green light it. that is why i ask that specifically. have a great day, this was all off the fly/cuff cuz i read abt crossbreeding in an article cuz i googled if all orangus are ginger lol
