1. “Are you excited?”

Mrs. Jeon smiles as she grabs her husband’s hand, who mirrors her wide smile that’s been glued to both of their faces ever since they got the great news.

“Yes, we are. We’ve been wanting a baby for a long time”
2. The caseworker they’ve been working with for the past few months smiles at them warmly.

“Well I’m happy that you’re finally able to start your family”

Mrs. Jeon laughs with pure joy.
3. Ever since she married her husband five years ago and they were ready to start a family, she’s been hoping and praying for a little baby of their own, to be blessed with a child who they can raise and enjoy life with.
4. So when they got the news that she’s unable to carry a baby full term, she was devastated.

She felt like a failure, and her own mother always made sure to remind her.

But she wasn’t going to let that stop her.
5. She’s meant to be a mother, to care and to teach, and she wasn’t going to give up.

The second her husband was on board, they started filing for adoption. They waited and waited for them to be placed with a child, but a year passed and still no luck.

So she prayed.
6. She prayed more than she ever did in her whole life.

Her parents were Christians and she grew up learning about God, but she was never really interested in it, always brushing her parents off whenever they brought it up or asked her to go to church with them.
7. But she gets it now.

When she prayed, she promised she would give her life to make sure her child knew God.

She would make sure to raise him the way God intended, and that same week she got the call that they /finally/ have a baby boy for them.
8. Mrs. Jeon has never been so happy, so grateful, so thankful, and it was all thanks to the lord above.

“Okay, I’m going to go get him now”

The caseworker flashed them a smile before going out the door, leaving the couple alone — nervous but excited.

“You’re okay?”
9. “I’m fine” Mrs. Jeon peers up at her husband to give him a quick peak on the lips. “I love you”

“I love you too”

The door swings open, and the couple both look up to see their caseworker walking back into the room with a small baby secured in her arms.
10. Mrs. Jeon feels a rush of fondness at the sight. That’s her son.

That’s /their/ son.

“Mr. and Mrs. Jeon...” The casework walks towards them and places the tiny baby in Mrs. Jeon’s arms.

“Meet Jungkook”
11. Mrs. Jeon watches Jungkook’s small hand curl around her finger when she reaches out to him, his legs kicking in a tiny jagged motion, and she couldn’t help but smile a little.

He’s so small in her arms, so perfect.
12. And as she rocks him gently and Jungkook giggles when her husband tickles his side, it all feels right.

It feels like this was meant to be.

It feels like all the heartaches and crying silently at night was all worth it if they could have Jungkook.
13. If they could be a family.

There’s this sudden want to protect him, to love him, to care for him, to teach him, to raise him to be the godly boy she knows he can be, to be in his life, and from this moment on she promises to do just that.
14. When they get home with their new baby and places the sleeping boy in his newly bought crib, the couple joins hands and prays.

“Father God” Mr. Jeon starts, eyes fluttering close.

“Thank you for this precious blessing...”
15. “There seems to be no greater physical gift than this sweet bundle of joy sent straight from you. Thank you for giving us our family, for giving us Jungkook. Please bless this baby, Lord. Place a shield of protection around his little body and guard him as he grows.”
16. “Keep him safe and healthy, Lord. Help this dear one to know he is deeply and forever loved – first by you, and then by so many of us. Please give us the strength to raise Jungkook to know you and only you as our lord and savior.”
17. “Thank you Lord for this new life. We praise and thank you for your good and perfect creation. Amen”

Mrs. Jeon smiles, her hand tightly in her husband’s.

“Amen”
