Day 11: Little Gifts

Katsuki tries not to show his disappointment when Izuku doesn't give him a birthday present. No, he doesn't /need/ a present from his boyfriend for him to know where he stands.
It's not like Izuku forgot his birthday, they had a date! An amazing date. But Izuku /always/ gets him a present. Ever since they started dating, well, even since they started to become friends again.
So what gives this year? He doesn't want to be an ungrateful bastard, so he hides these feelings well. He's a little torn though, because he and Izuku have agreed to be honest with each other, even about the little things. It's the bedrock of their bond.
But jeez, Katsuki doesn't want to make him feel bad. He's overworked as it is; they both are, really. And that date had been more than enough. Ugh! Why does this even hurt at all. He just misses the tradition.
They work opposite schedules for the rest of the week, so it's a quick kiss in the morning, a gentle squeeze in the bed at night before one drifts off or the other wakes. It's not ideal when things get like this, but villains don't care about your personal plans.
But when Katsuki gets to his desk in the morning, there's a package on his desk. It looks old: crumpled All Might wrapping paper with faded colors. It looks like a child wrapped it. Maybe from a fan. He'd never admit it, but it's hella cute to receive things like that.
There's no card. He opens it to find a vintage All Might action figure, still in the box. This is not faded at all. It's in pristine condition, as far as he can tell. And it must be worth a fortune because it's something that had only been made when he was a kid.
How would a kid get their hands on this? He vaguely remembers asking for this himself when he was young, but they'd sold out quickly and moved on to the next model almost immediately. He'll have to talk to reception and see if there's any way to trace who sent it.
He's not able to tell Izuku about it because they don't see each other. He places it on the bookshelf and makes a note to point it out the next time they're home together.
The next day, there's another package. This one at their door. It's a little bigger box, the wrapping still leaving something to be desired, but a little bit better. Inside is a karate gi, a small one, like something that would fit say, a 10 year old. What? Weird as hell.
But on the back there's the design of an explosion painted on with with careful strokes. It looks beautiful, actually. It won't fit him at all, but the thought is nice. Maybe a fan again. Musta painted this on their uniform and had to promptly get a new one.
The next day, there's another package at his desk. Not wrapped though, it's in a bag. It's a mug that says '#1 Hero' with the outline of someone who is clearly supposed to be All Might, but they must not have gotten the proper licensing.
Inside, the mug is filled with little wrapped candies. Again, ones he hasn't seen in years. Ones he recognized as something Auntie Inko used to keep in a little dish. The kind he and Izuku were always trying to sneak when they were really little.
Again, no card, but he's starting to piece it together. He's pretty sure now he knows who these things are from.

And when he returns home, Izuku is there with one more gift. A DVD of a movie he'd borrowed and never returned.
"These are all things I meant to give to you when we were little, but I chickened out. I wouldn't eat that candy. It's like twelve years old," Izuku says, smiling sheepishly. He looks embarrassed.
Katsuki grabs him and pulls him into a deep kiss.

"Well, I'm glad you finally did. It's some pretty cheesy stuff, but I like it."

"Hmm, and here's your present for this year." Izuku holds up a silver envelope between them.
Katsuki snatches it, opening it to find a pass for two to a ski resort.

"After these current cases wrap up, we're going," Izuku says. And Katsuki can't argue with that.
