Today I am going to start a big star wars marathon. Watching every canon movie and tv series in chronological order because I can.
obviously not in one sitting of course I'll probably only watch like an hour or two a day
I have to admit, I enjoyed my rewatch of The Phantom Menace a lot more than I thought I would. It's not a great movie by any means, but it's a whole lot of fun. There are plenty of scenes that made me roll my eyes in pain, but...
there are just as many if not more that put a big stupid grin on my face. The journey through Naboo's core, the podrace, the battle of Naboo, just to name a couple. Also I don't care what anyone says, I love Jar Jar so much. He's not funny but he's still so lovable.
Attack of the Clones. Oh boy. I don't like this movie. It's not bad necessarily it's just... not good. There are one or two great scenes like the speeder chase on Coruscant or the dogfight above Geonosis, but outside of that it's mostly really boring or really painful.
I don't want to shit on this movie too much because it does have it's redeeming qualities, but it's easily my least favorite episode. The acting feels so bland and the characters are either really boring or really annoying with little in between.
oh boy The Clone Wars is next
this is painful
Star Wars: The Clone Wars theatrical release. Reviewing this one separate from the series since it is technically a movie on it's own.
This is the first movie I remember watching in theaters so I do have quite a bit of nostalgia for it, but it's still pretty bad.
This is the first movie I remember watching in theaters so I do have quite a bit of nostalgia for it, but it's still pretty bad.
the writing is sloppy, the acting is painful, and the animation feels unfinished. The banter between Ashoka and Anakin feels so forced and unnecessary and there's so much of it. This would have been better off as just a normal string of episodes.
if I had a nickel for every zombie arc there is in the clone wars I'd have two nickels which isn't a lot but it's strange that it happened twice
ok I take it back this arc is fun
holy shit that drastic shift in animation quality for the last arc of season 7
Revenge of the Sith. Probably my favorite of the prequel trilogy, but that's not saying too much. It's got some of the best lightsaber duels in the franchise and that opening scene above Coruscant is so good. a lot of the acting is laughably cringe, and you can tell they...
...just wanted to find a way to quickly wrap things up to match the OT. Having rewatched The Clone Wars right before this made Order 66 sting so much more. Anyway, good but flawed and very overrated movie.
tomorrow I'll probably watch the last 3 episodes of The Clone Wars and review the series and then I can move on to Solo.
Star Wars The Clone Wars. This is probably some of my favorite media to come out of the Prequel era or even star wars in general. The individual arcs/episodes vary heavily in quality, but when it's good it's great and when it's bad it's at least bearable.
I really like how it has so much freedom to go wherever it wants. Want massive battles? You got it. Want a fun little detective arc? here you go. Want a fucking Godzilla or zombie movie parody?? We got that too! It's just a really fun show with so much variety.
now watching the best star wars movie
Solo. This is such a fun movie and a nice change of pace from all the massive wars and stuff. As many people have said in the past, the lighting is really dark throughout the film. They definitely could have benefitted to brighten it up a little bit but...
...it's a great movie regardless. Also Darth Maul felt really shoehorned in at the end and the acting was a little whack but in a way I think it added to the charm. Anyway, it's a blast of a heist movie in space and still my favorite film in the franchise.
First time watching Rebels since it aired let's fucking go
damn that season 2 finale got me real emotional
Star Wars Rebels is a masterpiece. I first watched this show back when it aired and thought it was mid at best. Now it's one of my favorite things to come out of the franchise. At first it's a little hard to get into but I quickly fell in love with it. I cried many times.
I can't wait to see what's next for the story and the characters. I think it's safe to say I'm in the rebels cult now.
Rogue One. This movie has some of the best scenes in Star Wars but overall it's kinda weak. Some of the characters were fine, like Jyn, Krennic, and K2SO, but then there's characters like Baze, Chirrut, and Bodhi. They were so interesting and had a lot of potential...
...but they ended up just kinda boring. They felt more like tools to push the plot along rather than actual characters. That said, the movie is still a lot of fun. I love the scene where they escape Jedha and the Battle of Scarif. Anyway, Fun movie but a little overrated.
A New Hope. While this movie can feel a little slow or outdated at times, it's still a really fun time. some scenes feel like they go on too long and there's some weird thing going on with the audio. sometimes it's clear and sometimes it's a little muffled...
Aside from that, it's a great classic sci-fi movie. I don't really have much else to say about it. I love the characters and the action is fun. It's a good and iconic movie. 4/5 stars.
The Empire Strikes Back. This is such a great movie. It's an impressive step up from the last one. It never feels like it's dragging on too long and always keeps me interested. Also it looks really nice for a 40 year old movie. I mean it's obviously still a little dated...
It's not as visually impressive as some more recent films, but it still looks great. This is probably my favorite movie out of the skywalker saga. Masterpiece.
Return of the Jedi. Probably the weakest in the trilogy, but not necessarily a bad film. The characters feel more bland and nothing really happens until the climax. That climax, however, is amazing. The throne room scene is so great...
I love how you can feel Luke's inner turmoil, and Vader's growing conflict. The battle going on outside is great too. Overall, Disappointing compared to the last two, but not a bad movie.
Instead of watching the mandalorian next I'm gonna play through the battlefront II campaign because I bought the game a while back and have been waiting to play it after RotJ
So I managed to beat the campaign in a day because I have no life. It was ok. I enjoyed it enough. I don't really have anything to say about it, so next is the mandalorian.
The Mandalorian is an amazing show. I wouldn't call it perfect, it still has flaws, but it's very close. I love (almost) all the characters new and old, the story is great, and the visuals are stunning. A lot of the episodes feel like just filler, but none of them are terrible.
It also has a whole lot of fan service which isn't necessarily a bad thing, it just kinda feels like a cop out sometimes. That said I'd probably put it at the top, second only to rebels.
kinda forgot about this but it's resistance time now
The Force Awakens. Say what you want about the sequel trilogy, but TFA is one of my favorite star wars movies. it's an absolute blast. I'll probably make a lot of people mad with this, but it's basically just ANH but better...
It takes everything I love about ANH and upgrades it. Great visuals, fresh new characters, it never feels like it's dragging on, and the action is so so good. The scene where the x-wings fly over the lake on Takodana is probably one of the best scenes in the franchise.
Just finished season 1 of Resistance. So far it's a really fun show. It gets way too much hate.
The Last Jedi. This movie was so much better than I remembered. It's nowhere near as bad as people say, but it's not exactly a masterpiece either. When it's good it's amazing, and when it's bad it's just incredibly boring. It's probably the most cinematic film in the franchise...
...and I love it. It's far from a perfect movie but still great.
Star Wars Resistance is a great show. It's definitely no Rebels or Clone Wars, but it's way too overhated. Good characters, good story, hell even the art style, which constantly gets shit on, I fell in love with by the end. I will say, it's definitely a kids show...
It can be a little annoying at times but it's one of those shows that gets better as it goes. Great series. Massively underrated.
The Rise of Skywalker. This movie is an absolute mess of a story. So many things just happen out of nowhere and it makes no sense. Rose was downgraded to a side character, We never found out who Janna was, and I really wish that the whole Palpatine thing...
...at least had more buildup in the last two movies. I have so many problems with this movie, but I weirdly kind of love it? It's such a blast of an action movie, and it's so epic for lack of a better word. I even liked the insanely ridiculous disaster of a plot...
... in a so-bad-it's-funny kind of way. I really wanted to hate this movie, but I enjoyed it way too much. Plus it has Babu Frik so that's an instant win.
the battlefront 2 dlc campaign kinda sucked lol
Oh yeah remember this thread? I kinda forgot about it but I was planning on posting my full ranking after I finished JFO, and since bad batch is coming out soon I was reminded to do that.
So anyways, behold. My ranking of all canon star wars media aside from stuff I didn't have.
