Today's covid denialists are tomorrow's openly eugenicist "these disabled people are a drain on society"

Literally. 13 years after the Spanish flu, the very first people the nazis targeted were disabled people.

What caused a lot of those disabilities, you think?
The spanish flu killed 1% of Europe.

It also caused permanent chronic illnesses in tens of millions of people.

Kidney disease, heart disease, developmental disabilities, stroke victims, etc
Doctors decades later could tell exactly when their patient's mother contracted the flu during her pregnancy by which organ system shut down first.
In the wake of a devastating pandemic, were millions of survivors left with debilitating permanent health issues.
One big platform in nazism was "life unworthy of life"

Propaganda posters describing the cost of keeping disabled people alive, as a burden.

People who, probably, got the flu 13 years earlier and never fully recovered.
Imagine. You get a horrific flu. It leaves you permanently unable to breathe properly. Your heart rate spikes.

A decade later, your country declares you a burden worthy of death.

And then Aktion T4 murders you.
For a decade, that sentiment festered and simmered. More people got sick again, from different things, and recovered even more poorly.

Kids who'd had fevers as infants, became 12 year olds with developmental disabilities.
Elderly people were less mobile, sicker, more reliant on care.

Over a decade, longflu kept becoming more and more visible.
The nazis capitalized on this issue, and the very first thing they did in power was murder disabled people.
In america, even before our pandemic, a good portion of the country *already* declared those same beliefs about disabled people.

The president had already spent 4 years attacking healthcare access, cutting budgets to support disabled people.
It took over a decade for a political party to openly decide to kill disabled people.

In america, one party has already made this is an explicit goal.

And the millions of disabled people in the wake of this pandemic have yet to really appear.
Back then, it took over a decade of increasingly sick survivors of a pandemic before people chose to murder them.

How fast do you think it'll happen in the US? Given how americans already treat those with chronic illnesses?
How long before you see GOP ads describing the rising cost of dialysis for people whose kidneys were destroyed by covid, as an unbearable burden on society
How long before GOP youtube is full of angry men in sunglasses screaming in their cars about how much it costs to support all the people who've had a longcovid stroke and can no longer care for themselves
It took the nazis over a decade to openly declare war on survivors of the spanish flu.

It won't take anywhere near as long for the GOP to do the same toward survivors of covid.
